I can’t help but think she’s a little too young for all this. Why her parents want her to be a star so young I don’t know. I guess, at least they dress her age appropriately and its probably better for girls her age to look up to her instead some of the over-sexualised artists in the industry right now.

charlie 10/18/2010 at 5:37 PM

You’re right she is

Reply

Anonymous 10/19/2010 at 5:41 AM

… she is still really young … her education should also be as big a priority as making her a star…

POSHEDUP 10/19/2010 at 10:18 AM

Y R U GUYS MAKING SUCH A BIG DEAL ABOUT SHE AGE…THERE R MANY CHILD STARS OUT HERE, I DONT REMEMBER PEOPLE MAKING A BIG FUSS OVER RUDY FROM THE COSBY SHOW AND HER AGE??? IT SURE IT’S ABOUT MONEY, PARENT CAKED UP FOR LIFE!!!!

Reply

The Disgruntled Fan 10/19/2010 at 11:19 AM

Yea and look at Rudy now…

IfierceMonster 10/20/2010 at 1:06 AM

I agree @ Y.

Willow is entirely TOO YOUNG for this! I can’t imagine why the Smiths would expose her like this @ such a YOUNG AGE. SMDH

DONT SEE A BIG DEAL BOUT THE CHILD STAR THING… WHY WOULD SOMEONE STOP THEIR CHILD FROM EXPRESSING THEIR TALENTS…THEY WILL ALWAYS BE IN THE SPOT LIGHT BECAUSE OF WHO THEIR PARENTS ARE…

Sunshine 10/21/2010 at 3:58 AM

WHO IS TO SAY ITS HER PARENTS IS MAKING HER TO DO IT….LOOKS LIKE SHE IS COMFORTABLE BEHIND THE CAMERA….ITS VERY GOOD THAT THE SONG IS APROPRIATE FOR HER AGE!!

MEEK 10/18/2010 at 5:05 PM

I LOVED IT!!!!!
Y is there such controversy over her doing what she wants to do?! Kids have been in the industry since the inception. I’m pretty sure that the fact that her parents are stars themselves, she will be watched over and groomed meticulously. I’m just happy that little brown girls and boys finally have someone other than the over sexualized usuals (i.e. Miley Cyrus, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, etc.) to look up to. #TeamWillow

in your list you should also include Beyonce, Rhianna, (Nicki Minaj– which they have on a remix), etc

The Smith’s aren’t who they started out as… they’ve become extra Hollywood and it seems little Willow is nothing more than a sacrifice… she’s doomed… because she’s growing up with no sense of reality or God in her life.

Reply

Jay 10/18/2010 at 5:25 PM

Be Easy.

You are over-analyzing & who gives f*ck if her parents have become “extra Hollywood” as you so un-originally put it. They are the most powerful black couple in Hollywood, and doing it well. Their daughter just wants to be apart of that and they have the money to do it.

If the older girls int he industry wont do it – I have no problem with a younger black girl giving other black girls the agency to love the hair they were born in and not feel unwanted in this prejudiced ass country. Let her live.

MEEK 10/18/2010 at 6:14 PM

Exactly how do you know she has no perception of reality or God in her life. She’s nine years old for pete’s sake…LET HER LIVE!!!!

All you Hollywood bum fucking hedonistic cavorts of hethenism can suck on my chocolate salty balls..and so can willow smith and her mama.

i think i would really dig willow smiths music if i were 12 yrs old, but that’s no the case… am a grown ass man an can’t understand how in the hell all these adults think it’s cool to listen to music intended for kids…or is it?…it’s kind of bizarre

POSHEDUP 10/19/2010 at 10:25 AM

HOW DO U NO SHE DOEN’T HAVE REALITY OR GOD IN HER LIFE?? U MAKE NO SENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously I loved it. She is a little girl who wants to sing what’s wrong with that. I doubt seriously that her parents pushed her into it.
She has stayed true to herself and it is kid appropriate it. Much like Raven-Symone and Keke Palmer she can do what she loves and still stay in her place as a child. The difference between this child and some others is that her parents are not in it for the money.
Leave her alone. Everyone has the right to live their dreams and she is going for hers respect that!

D+Darko 10/19/2010 at 12:39 AM

COSIGN!!!

I wanted to sing when I was 9. Im not rich so I couldn’t do it. SHE’S RICH, she CAN.

Thats all that matters

I loved it. She’s cute and refreshing to not see younger stars in their knickers (put it away miley, it’s not sexy its weird!!).

hopefully she wont do the whole good girl gone bad thing that Jay Z seems to like. If I was 9 i would want to be her. She’s not trying to flaunt anything which is nice and for once with the younger stars (Selena Gomez ETC) the song is actually good.
Beautiful!!

This is something I WILL SUPPORT I don’t care how old she is. Most artist started out young anyway besides their is nothing wrong with letting your children invest in their own futures. Will needs to get his oldest son a contract too.

I loved the video. I thought it was fun and cute and for EVERYBODY. No booty poppin, dropping it low, talikn about sex and crack and shit. It’s like somebody let fresh air into the copy -cat music business. KUDOS to the SMITHS whatever they do as a married couple its not affecting their children I can respect that…

Congratulations, Willow! I’m very happy for you! I’m sure that her talent will take her very far (and having Mega Rich Parents doesn’t hurt either).

who is she being marketed to?…am kind of surprised so many grown folks are into the music of a 9 year old child, that’s just weird to me.

The Disgruntled Fan 2 10/19/2010 at 6:10 AM

Willow Smith is another Lindsey Lohan in the making. Watch and see. And for all the ‘grown’ fools who listen to Justin Beiber and Willow Smith’s music, you need to smack some sense back into your head. Do it NOW! No seriously. I’m waiting.

What’s sad is so-called adults wishing ill of a child that’s doing something constructive with her life and living out HER dream. She’s doing something that a lot of you guys only wish you could do. Is this is the state of the society we live in today that even a child gets put down and belittled?! If it is, I feel sorry for you all. It’s 1 thing to not like the song, but to degrade her and wish her harm is simply DEPLORABLE. SMFH

I completely agree. Bullying an innocent, little girl is probably the lamest thing ever… especially as an adult.

what are you two talking about???… how are folks bullying willow ?were all expressing opinions… you get to share your opinions an so does everyone else, even if you don’t agree…if you don’t want to hear opposing opinions then you should also keep your opinions to yourselves…

Disgruntled 2 isn’t me… they just bit my name… 2nd of all I wasn’t hating on her. I like the song but this girl is very young and doesn’t even go to school or do work from her tutors anymore… she was struggling to read that plaque on 106 & park and she’s 9.

This song is an adult like song being marketed to kids… maybe you don’t see an issue with it but I can’t help but think this is the beginning of another child stars impending doom. ie. Britney Spears, Drew Barrymoore, Lindsey Lohan, Miley Cyrus, Michael Jackson, etc
