I would like to win this prize pack. After leaving for the military from. NY infor 1985…I finally returned for good back in NY 4 yrs ago. I didn’t retire though. I vowed never to come back to NY bcuz I wasn’t close to my mom. Now we have gotten closer than ever….and I would like to take my 60 yr old mom to see FELA! We are both on a limited income, so winning this would be a beautiful gift for both of us.

I want to win the tickets for my aunt. Her 50th birthday was last week and the family is planning a big surprise birthday dinner party for her. She is a huge Patti Labelle fan and she loves to travel, so that would be the perfect gift for her 50th birthday party.

Hi TheLifeFiles,
Although I dont have any 50 years old aunt or mother to give this tix too, I do have a 23yrd old twin whom I’ll love to share this amazing experience with. Fela Anikulapo Kuti isn’t just a musician. He is a legend for Nigerians like myself. “baba 70″ Mr. Suffering and smiling was the voice of the underdogs. I’m moving soon and getting this tix will be the ultimate going away present for me and my twin.

Give us a chance to experience our culture on an American platform, an experience filled with joy and smiles… A moment to be proud to be a Nigerian, despite our setbacks.

Plus the fact that I’m a nappy belle doesn’t hurt either because God knows natural hair products are pricey.

Hi TLF,

I would really love to win these tickets. The beginning of 2009 my Mom was laid off. 3 months later I was laid off. It was really hard for us for a while. I am unfortunately still unemployed and I was not able to do anything nice for my Mom for her last 2 birthdays. It would be refreshing for us to get out of the house and enjoy a great show. I appreciate her for all she still sacrifices for me and this would be a great way to show it.

Thanks

I would love to have an opportunity to take my Mom to see Patti on Broadway. My mom recently left Atlanta (which she adores) to move back home to NC (to a city w/out one stoplight) to take care of her aging mother and father (w/Alzheimer’s). My mother is a wonderful daughter and mother. It takes a special kind of person to leave the life that you have built behind to take care of family. She is a die hard Patti & Fela fan so this would be just what the Dr. ordered. She could use some “me” time and I would love for this gift pack to be my present to her. Thanks!

Last year towards the end of March I was diagnosed with Burkitt’s Lymphoma. I was hospitalized for several months, and throughout it all my wife held my family down and took care of our household while I was down. She has always wanted to go to New York for a Broadway Show and was never well enough until recently to do so. I can’t think of a better way to show her my gratitude and my appreciation for everything she has done. Thank you.

I saw this show last January and all I can say is that it was absolutely GREAT! It was entertaining from begining to end and had a great message!! Even if you don’t win these tix, you should still make it a point to go see it! IMO this show is a MUST SEE that you are guaranteed to enjoy.

I would really love to win this because I have wanted to see this but I was laid off from work and have been unemployed for over a year and my mother and I have been a long time fan of Mary J. Blige and Patti LaBelle. Nothing would make me happier than to take my mother to see this play. It would really be something special for her, since she hasn’t gone out since she became ill.

As a loyal LIFER, I’ve been following this contest closely, hoping to win! This is my final shot! I’ve just recently moved to the City that Never Sleeps from Kansas (yes…Kansas), and this would be an amazing experience as a NEW New Yorker because what’s more NYC than Broadway? Please pick me!

Loyal LIFER,
Stephanie

I would love the opportunity to expose my teenage daughter to the show and spend some time in NY. She is a passionate artist and it would be a great opportunity to show her the result of working hard, dreaming big and striving to be the best that she can be.

I have never seen a BROADWAY play! The closest I have come to seeing anyting Broadway worthy is the time I watched my daughter’s school rendition of, “Sister Rabbit Takes Harlem.”. I would loooooooove the opportunity to see the “Tony Award inning, Fela! live and in action. The additional gifts Carol’s Daughter products and Mary J Blige perfume would be like adding candles on a birthday cake, picture perfect..

I was laid off last year so this was the first year that I did not go away for vacation so I decided to have a staycation in and around where I live which is Westchester County New York. I went to a few WNBA games at the Garden with friends and treated myself to dinner at City Island. The other thing I want to do is go to a Broadway production and Fela is the one I want to see especially because of who Fela Kuti was (activist) and the role he played in intoducing Afrobeat to the world.

Fela was the first play that I brought tickets to in my adult life. It was exciting, inspirational and an overall amazing performance. I would love to see the show again and take my daughter she would love the high energy! Patti Labelle and a meet and greet with the cast members would be amazing!

I really need to win this!! I’ve been dying to see this acclaimed musical ever since I’ve heard about it. I would love to invite my little sis who leaves for school within a month and make it a girls weekend. What a great opportunity to spend time together and see an amazing body of work. She can walk away with some amazing Afro history and motivation as begin her studies.

I need need NEED to WIN! I am a temporary single mother of three. Temporary because my husband is currently serving our country in Afghanistan. I am a full time student (maintaining a 4.0 average) and I recently did the “Big Chop”! I cut off over 12 inches of hair at one sitting and am now sporting a very dry and uneven “Teeny Weeny Afro” because I have no idea what else to do to my type 4a kinky hair. So you see I need to win so I can take a much needed break from parenting and schooling and go see the show “FELA” with my lovely Mother in Law and I also need to win so I can use “Carol’s Daughter’s” hair products to get my type 4a kinky and dry hair moisturized and looking its best before my husband returns home from Afghanistan!
