Samsung’s new android tablet is being called the hottest thing to enter the market since the iPad and with some extra features and with a smaller size [7 inches diagonally vs 11] – some say it’s even hotter. Check out the official promo video for the device that hits stores in the US this month above, but here’s what the New York Times had to say about what makes this device special:
In any case, the Galaxy offers all of Android’s traditional high points, including many features the iPad doesn’t have, or doesn’t have out of the box. For example, you can customize its nine home screens by placing icons or mini info windows anywhere you like (they don’t have to sit in an organized grid). You can dictate text instead of typing it, or search Google or Google Maps by voice. (On the Galaxy, you can also type using Swype) You can use Android’s excellent turn-by-turn navigation app — it’s like a car GPS unit with an Imax screen. Because the Galaxy runs Android 2.2, it can also play Flash videos online.
The Galaxy will retail for $600 in stores or $400 if you buy it with one of the four major telephone companies [Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint] that are offering it with a 2-year contract.

and again with the whole “i-pad killer” platitude, why don’t you throw in an “all android everything” for good measure.
nicca we off dat.
Thanks!
there is no ipad killer because branding supercedes feature set. apple is king of branding so if the price point is tolerable they are selling from an advantage from the perspective of mindshare.
of course they aren’t selling the most feature rich devices. in fact they do the opposite and sell it as a feature. they restrict features normally found on other devices and build planned-obsolescence into current generation devices in order to motivate generational re-up when the new generation of device comes out. Some would aregue that this is an anticonsumerist tactic. in fact, several class action lawsuits have been initiated but not carried through because the pro-apple consumers – the mindfucking is strong – and pro-apple fanatics support their brand religiously like zealots.
Niggas who don’t use I-gadgets and fuck with android shouldn’t feel a way tho. we’re facetiming with your broad on 4g while you’re hunting for a wifi-spot. lol. that’s so 2001. good luck with that. and when/if windows phone comes out and is better – we’re on that too. no religion can hold us.
now that’s a muthaphukin subterranean level theory on the whole apple i-zombie following!!! Interesting…
But I would have to counter with this… While i-devices often lack cross-platform-ability (i.e. adobe flash, hdmi, high res or frontal cameras etc…) , I believe they attempt to make that up in well above average processor and basic computing technology sophistication. For instance, you may not be able to access and utilize EVERY available online application or software package BUT your screen resolution, the physical dimensions and the speed and fluidity of the operating system will be elite, no expense spared in the development (with some bugs of course now and again). So while I agree with your basic premise (misleading advertising), I’m not sure if I can go all the way to “anti-consumeristic” with you… Supporters are indeed getting a cutting edge product MOST of the time, which could warrant the following, but they are also sacrificing the benefits of mass, cross-platform functionality in most cases. now the question is whether they REALIZE that or not. But isn’t that what apple is all about, separation from the mass platform?
-evo4G all the way.
im an android fanboy…and i have to say this is not killing anything!
