hate what he did to philly (rappers anyway) but love what how he represents us as a black man!
cant wait to get this book!
you love how he what? Represents who? SMH Us black people have sooo much to learn
You think you know something special that “us black people” dont?
You don’t think Jay represented himself well? No? Okay then, well I couldn’t give a damn less what you think.
See, by representing himself intelligently and making the most of himself, he’s done enough for me. Because, by millions of people seeing him be introspective and refined, it lets them see that there can be multiple facets to their perceived “black culture.” Jay doesn’t talk about drugs and murder anymore, he’s evolved. I’m happy to see that. I don’t need a handout from him, I’m just glad he made it and can represent himself respectfully.
what “Us black pleople?” said.
though, im sure charlie is black and…didnt take time to see through my obvious word error
but its all good.
we make mistakes and we learn from them. just like jay.
represent represent!
because a drug dealer isn’t incarcerated and gets away with poisoning (and possibly killing) children and/or families in his community and capitalizing off of the stories about his abuses, does that make him a positive role model later in life when the money he made off of exploiting others is enough money for him to live no longer exploiting them??? If you believe that, then you should add Big Meech, Freeway Rick Ross, Larry Hoover, Tookie Williams, Frank Lucas and countless other black mobsters who “changed their ways” in an effort to “redeem themselves” only when their lifestyles became too troublesome to maintain in comparison to simply talking about the things they did.
props to jay for “gettin money”, but he is no living example other than a pusher who got away with it, and he will be no martyr when he is gone as far as I’m concerned.
What do you tell your kids??? be like Jay-Z??? Go sell drugs for a while, break up a few families, cause a few deaths, then turn to rap music, wait for a couple top rap stars to get killed so you can move into their spot, buy some water for Africans, marry the baddest bitch in the game and get her to wear your chain, all while calling yourself God???? You do that, call me crazy, but I’d rather send them to college.
THIS shit is what @Charlie means. and I second that emotion.
Yeah he really represents black people, cut each others throat
@ Roosevelt, the most interesting man in the world.
You are wise, thank you
Roosevelt, that HAD to be one of the best summaries of it all… kudos.
@ Roosevelt… totally AGREE!
my book is in the mail as i type…. can’t wait
Definitely getting this
u guys sweat the wrong people for the wrong things. he’s making money off of ur broke @sses.
speak for yourself.
how come jay-z always stutters in interviews but never does in rap songs..and he apparently does most of his songs in one goal at one setting?
because he’s choosing his words very carefully so he doesn’t kanye himself in an interview. most people often stutter or use spacing mechanisms during interviews like “ummm” or “uhhhh” to give onself time to think so one chooses words carefully.
it’s especially used a lot by people whose natural speaking patterns and vernacular differ from the necessary tone of the interview.
parse any interview and you’ll be surprised by how often an interviewee uses a spacing mechanism to stretch out a vague statement or to give him/her time to find the right “unoffensive” words.
that answers that. thank you very much.
At the very least he has people who do not normally read, reading! Kudos on that alone.
SN: Love me some Jay but dont care about this book.
HOV!
For people like Charlie and Roosevelt….I just hope and pray one day your wrong doings aren’t in the public, and we will see how forgiving or non-forgiving people will be to you. No one is saying praise him for his wrong, but at least he is trying to make up for it…WE all fall short, but some never change some just keep doing the samething, so yes the drugs death and destruction is true, so now after that you tell me what shall he do? Are you the final judge?
It’s not about judging, come on its about what is he’s saying and representing. You know what? Forget it, I dont have the patience.
lol man how about the business exec who knowingly sponsor wars and inhuman mining practice/working condition etc. how about the oil companies? how about your politician who blatantly screw you for “your own interest”? the media execs who spoon feed garbage on a delay basis, mental slavery(what you constantly see becomes reality)? Yet they are glorified for their success, money and clapped for their small acts of philanthropy? well kudos to them for violating families around the world and your neighbor. but Oh Drugs (how the heck it got there in the first place, shawn carter did not a own a plan with drug lord connection in columbia) is Horrible but the “white collar crimes” that are in-effect more devastating, than some rapper who talks about shit he did in his life. Well i would love to hear the life and times of Adam, Rockefeller and the Johnson.
represent!
@Leo very very good point
