New Trend Alert: Designer Turkeys

by admin on 11/23/2010 · 5 comments

Guess the recession really is over – why else would somebody pay $14 bucks a pound for something you can get for .75 cents a pound!?  Reports the NY Daily News:

Hold onto your giblets: Designer turkeys are flying off store shelves – even at prices as high as $14 a pound.  That’s a $168 dent in your Thanksgiving budget if you’re hunting a tasty 12-pounder.  Manhattan architect Stephen Alesch dished out more than $200 Sunday for a pair of Good Shepherd Poultry Ranch Heritage free-range turkeys, priced at $11 a pound and dubbed the “Mercedes-Benz” of birds by Dean & Deluca staff.

“They hang out in open fields,” Alesch, 45, said in defense of his three-figure fowl. “It’s all about what it’s been like for them for their one or two years of life.”

Well now you know why it costs so much to get a room designed by RW2…you gotta pay for their talent AND their extravagent lifestyle.

Sad.

uuhm here in Europe special butcher shops with meat from animals that have been selected for taste and then allowed to have a normal live for a long time and hell the meat tastes better so… also although 168 euros sounds like alot getting good meat usually costs maybe 5 euros a person so it’s not THAT exagerated
