As she prepares for what seems to be an almost certain run for the Presidency in 2012 reality show star Sarah Palin’s latest ploy is attempting to bait First Lady Michelle Obama into a public tiff over her campaign to fight childhood obesity:
I think she has got a different worldview and she is not hesitant at all to share what her worldview is. And I will take heat again for saying it on your show Laura but she encapsulated what her view of America is, I believe, unless she has evolved and things have changed in the last two years, but she said it on the campaign trail twice that it was the first time that she had been proud of her country when finally people were paying attention to Barack Obama. I think that’s appalling. We can think of this infinite number of reasons to be proud of American exceptionalism and it baffles me that anybody would have that view and then allow that view to bleed over into policy.
Take her anti-obesity thing that she is on. She is on this kick, right. What she is telling us is she cannot trust parents to make decisions for their own children, for their own families in what we should eat. And I know I’m going to be again criticized for bringing this up, but instead of a government thinking that they need to take over and make decisions for us according to some politician or politician’s wife priorities, just leave us alone, get off our back, and allow us as individuals to exercise our own God-given rights to make our own decisions and then our country gets back on the right track.
Don’t think we’ve ever seen a possible presidential candidate go after the wife of a sitting President like this. Check out the interview above at about 2:30 in and let us know what you think of Sarah’s beef.

funny how you can turn everything into a challenge of the freedom and rights of the american people. get over it, whats so bad about a policy promoting healthier eating? it should benefit everybody… except McDonalds, Burger King…
I think what is happening here is that first lady Michelle is more politically active than other past first wives so because of this, she has become more of a target.

The problem is that she is not just promoting healthy eating and the distruction of “food desserts” (or whatever it’s called) but she is promoting policies to make sure it gets “fixed”.
I want the promotion of healthier eating. What I don’t want is more laws and more regulations that TELL ME what I can and can’t eat. If McDonalds wants toys in happy meals, who cares? Don’t buy it. Don’t write a law banning toys in happy meals.
I am not a fan of limited government BUT I am also not a fan of do everything government either. Freedom means the choice to decide and all I see is more and more choices being taken away “for our safety”.

Michele’s program is ensuring that SCHOOLS provide healthy eating choices for kids. What is so wrong about that??? No one is saying they’re gonna ban McDonalds or tell you what you can or can’t eat. Some people are so gullible. SMH. Do some research and think for yourself instead of letting the media dictate what you think.

As for American exceptionalism… Not sure about that BUT I have to admit there are not any countries I know of in history that the past slaves ancestors can end up becoming president of the very same country. That is rather exceptional considering how many of the people who voted President Obama in are now all of a sudden racists lol

I agree with many points she is making here. I don’t want anyone dictating what I can and cant eat. The government is trying to take over virtually every aspect of our lives but because the president is black it’s all “ok” to be told how to live. It’s bullshit if you ask me. I’m not a sheep.
Americans are suffering with obesity. OBVIOUSLY THERE IS A PROBLEM. No one is forcing you to eat anything. They are giving you GUIDELINES FOR WHAT HAS MORE NUTRICION. Just as Doctors tell you your healthy weight, now there will be someone offering better options as far as food is concerned. And furthermore, you behave as if the government is bad, they are the ones providing military, public school education, the postal service, CIA, FBI just to name a few. It was the DEREGULATION of the government that helped cause this economic crisis with the inflation of house prices, people having to go through fore closures, excetera. NOBODY is telling parents what they can feed their children. Michelle Obama supports us — as a nation — OFFERING OUR CHILDREN THE BEST. We can only make healthy choices if those options are available in our communities.
Offering our children healthy cafeteria food at school vs sodas is NOT a problem, nor an invasion of your family’s right to feed sugar to your child. Offering P.E. opportunities at school is not “government intervention” it is support for healthy choices.
