One of the few things in life where I dont care on any1 else’s negative opinion, I miss this time in rap and no-one has been better than 2pac upto this date, not even close, why ppl think Jay-Z is the god of rap PUZZLES THE LIFE out of me!!

Plus do i even need to start the argument of biggie and pac, pac was clearly better, infact pac rappin around the same time as Biggie made biggie look good cos rap was so good back then. 2day Biggie would be compared to Rick Ross……. OH NO HE DIDNT!! ha Haters begin…..

^ I respect your opinion. But the hip hop consumer is always looking for the next best thing.

Pac had the most influence & connection.
Big had the best 2 CD’s ever in hip hop history & best growth
Jay wins by default due to his ability to sustain his interest thru business savvy

Very well said…
I second, Jay-Z took it beyond rap and even if he’s not best/favourite…he’s definitely the BIGGEST name in rap. So why is he that, if he’s not the best? Riddle me that….

Some intreseting points but with the Jay-Z thing, that just shows he wants money, lots of it and not much more, infact pretty sure 40% of his rap these days revolve’s around his success, good for him, not me though.

2pac offered more than both of them and that was real inspiration to be someone, meaningful lyrics and was one of the few rappers I could actually sit and watch a full interview with because he always had something insightful to say.
Who can you do that with 2day? best guess would be Nas?? but his interviews bore the hell outta me.

Oh and for RIAA, easist question I’ve ever had to answer…

Selling the most records does not make you the best, it makes you the biggest seller. 2pac wasn’t promoted like jay-z is and rap was nowhere near as accepted globally then as it is now.

Also, there are two types of music fan, the dedicated ones who dig into their favorite generes for teh best artists (about 30%) and the people who buy what they hear and like on the radio and thats it (about 70%), you do the math.

9th Wonder/DJ premier are my favorite producers but Timbaland has been No.1 with nelly furtado so I guess he must be better…?

Just so you know I wasn’t talking about record sales…and even at that you’re still kinda wrong, because 2pac has sold more records than Jay-Z to date!!! And white boy(Em) has sold more both of them.

So yeah, selling records really has more to say about your appeal than your actual talent but seldom they do collide in an artist, so I’m not entirely dismissing it as a criterion.

What I really meant my “BIGGEST” was importance and significance. Jay-Z has managed to stay relevant, even over totally different eras in the genre. Whether he sold out or not, change is usually inevitable and I’d have love to see what 2pac would sound like in 2010 to still maintain mainstream…
