Halle Berry the first African American woman to win an Oscar is doing good deeds helping the Jenesse Center in Los Angeles to renovate run down apartments for women dealing with abuse that need a place to live.

Hattie Mcdaniel won a Best Supporting Oscar for her role as Mammie in Gone With the Wind in 1939, and Whoppi won for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Oda Mae Brown in Ghost in 1990…

So, she’s NOT the first African American woman to win an Oscar

she is the 1st afircan american to win the best actress category..be easy on the lifers im sure its jus a simple mistake….damn y r we so bitter and touchy on topics like that?
