It’s sad that neither one of those kids are African American! Out of a million entries they couldn’t find one black child to represent them as well! Not taking anything from the children who were selected, IJS!!!
the kid standing 2nd from the right looks black to me, at least mixed. How many black kids you know, shop at the Gap? lol!!
Mine,,, he is black/puerto-rican and we “stay” geared in GAP!! So din’t think it is only caucasion children who go there. If african-american kids would wear something besides their pants on the ground and not follow the prison styles then maybe they would go to the GAP!

“How many black kids do you know shop at GAP?” Umm I’m black and every member of my family has worn GAP as a kid. Where the hell are you from? Is GAP an white-exclusive brand? Wake up and welcome to 2011.
I just read your comment and I am appalled! I am African American and so is my grandbaby and full black. She is light and beautiful and I shop at Baby Gap every week. I have been shopping there long before my grandbaby game along. So what are you insinuating???
I am also black and everyone that i know with a kid and without a kid shops at the gap. They have cute clothes point blank
On a side note…. My husband and i always joke when we see a mixed child or African American child and say “he looks like a gap kid”. Please don’t take this negatively because the child is always very cute it is just the fact that when the gap cast a “black” child they are almost always are really fair skinned and have curly Afros or hair.
why does it always have to be black though? I think it’s a problem that there are no other ethnicities at all. They couldn’t include Asian, Hispanic, etc.? It’s not just black and white, folks.
Very true.
It’s sad how there are always more biracial kids than black ones in ads like this. Companies like Gap want their models to look as white as possible. Choosing very pale skinned biracials instead of blacks is not much better. I still find darker skinned blacks (with actual black features) to be lovely! Where are the asian models as well?
You all seem to be racist in your own ways. Get over it.
I agree…..all kids are beautiful and should not be put in categories.
Unlike Abercrombie and Fitch, I would like to think Gap represents the average person, every average person. I am Black with no chip on my shoulder and I shop Gap for my son and often, thank you very much. I have feelings about it and I can exercise my opinion by not choosing to patronize businesses that do not represent any part of me or people of color….other colors that is. It is redundant to some because its’s an old problem/issue that has and has needed to be addressed prompting some to have the get over it attitude. As for getting over it, that would be easy to do if people did a better job of acknowledging the general underlying issue instead of telling people to get over it. Perhaps some people are too limited to acknowledge this. Hmmm.
get over yourselfs…not being racist just stating the truth most full african children arent very goodlooking for lack of a better word definitly not compared to any mixed, white and other raced children and also alot of their parents dont care to put them in stuff like this…just get over it and let it be
well my child is full african american and he is adorable. he is fair skinned but he is also still young which means he will get more tan as he grows. I started off fair and now I am medium complected. I think that we have to get over this light dark thing. we are all beautiful and when i say we I mean everyone! gosh. so I think your comment of “stating the truth” is not true at all and actually its kind of rude.
and there is an african american child duh
while we are on that subject… why do African American’s feel a person of their ethnic background be represented all the time? What about typical all black TV sitcoms or movies? Do we complain and say “hey, where’s the white guy? No fair”. NO.
Um go ahead and check out 2008′s winners before you guys open your mouth and pull the race card.
I don’t see a Mexican or see any of them complaining that they are not being represented.
Everyone needs to stop pulling the race card. There is no more one race anymore. Im a mixed all up with black. I acknowledge and love my race and proud of it. I have white black Italian spanish and other races in my family. so being racist is just stupid to me. I just had a baby. she is 5 mths and yes i do shop at gap. Love who you are dont worry about other people and there race. worry about yourself. if someone is racist then fuck em.you cant change nobody.you’ll kill yourself trying. one!
THIS IS RIDICULOUS…THE FIRST COMMENT STARTED ALL THIS …SO WHO STARTED WITH THE RACIST TALKING? “It’s sad that neither one of those kids are African American! Out of a million entries they couldn’t find one black child to represent them as well! Not taking anything from the children who were selected, IJS!!!” OKAY…WHAT ABOUT INDIN AMERICAN …CHINESE…SPANISH…IRISH…BLAH BLAH CUT THE SHIT! DONT BE PETE!
Btw “AMERICA” chose the winners not GAP!
