In a new interview with WWD famed designer Oscar de la Renta gave his two cents about not being too happy with the dress created by Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton for Michelle Obama to wear to the state dinner with the Chinese President Hu Jintao.

“My understanding is that the visit was to promote American-Chinese trade — American products in China and Chinese products in America. Why do you wear European clothes?  I’m not talking about my clothes, my business. I’m old, and I don’t need it. But there are a lot of young people, very talented people here who do.”

I pretty much don’t know shit about the female fashion and all of that, but I also agree with him. That dress is hideous…it looks like an old curtain or something.
