U.S. Postal Service Creates “Jazz Appreciation Forever” Stamp

by admin on 03/27/2011 · 2 comments

Artist Paul Rogers has designed the above Jazz Appreciation Forever postal stamp for the US. Postal Service.  The stamp was inspired by the covers of vintage Jazz albums previously released.  Thurgood Marshall Jr., who serves on the Postal Service Board  of Governors had this to say about the launch of the stamp:

“With this evocative Jazz stamp, we celebrate the music and the musicians who play it in studios, clubs and concert halls and on festival stages. I can’t think of a more perfect place to dedicate this new stamp than here in New Orleans, the birthplace of so many legendary jazz performers… and where jazz first flowered near the dawn of the 20th century.”
