sharpton is absolutely right. cornel west can eat a fat dick. sharpton made a critical point about “academicians in ivory towers.” cornel west is @ like 30 years in the game in ivy league academia. in fact when i visited princeton during college trips i got to speak to the dude.

my assessment of him then is the same i have of him now. he’s insulated and an almost narcissistic recursive amalgamation of his own propaganda. He teaches and is DIRECTLY responsible for the production for some of the most powerful up and coming “oligarchs” by virtue of his position at Princeton. His very existence speaks to the fact that he is actively part of the production pipeline for wall street and the financial system.

We are all hypocrites in ways but he’s a special kind of hypocrite that produces an educational and economic elite who then purports himself to be part of the proletariat. no bueno, nigga.

then he raises his hands, ostensibly in support of the working class, criticizes wall street (awash in ivy league grads – almost all of the critical african american wall street operatives are ivy league grads), writes a book, does the bill maher show like 3 times a year and speaks in rhyme. it’s a great hustle. but it’s bullshit.

sharpton is a shill and an opportunist. any given day i would never have sharpton speak for me. but between these two dudes sharpton has a more acute awareness of the needs of the average man and has taken a more hands on – responsible approach to solving black problems in america.

some of the things that obama has done for black people in his administration:

-healthcare. black people are preferentially underinsured or not insured at all.

-education. unemployment is not a jobs problem. it’s an education problem. he’s increased max amounts for student loans and increased pell grants and made grants available to continuing ed adult students so that returning to school – especially at community colleges – for the unemployed – is essentially free.

-revised forebearance laws to ease student loan stress.

-put billions of dollars into SBA programs. unemployed? go get you an SBA loan and start a business.

some of the things he wanted to do that republicans squashed:

-highway infrastructure new deal: would have created like a million jobs for the next 20 years to rebuild the nation’s crumbling interstate roads.

-high speed rail. republicans just crushed this because they want you to drive and buy gas. would have created hundreds of thousands of jobs.

sorry for the long post. in a nutshell cornel west can eat a fat dick.

peace.

so in a nutshell he’s a hypocrite cause he is a professor at a prominent institution that so happens to produce/manufacture employees for wallstreet. Riiiiiiggghht!!!

**sounds like someone didnt get an acceptance letter from Princeton**

ACCESS DE-NIED!!!! (PHUKOUTAHEREWITDATPHUKBOYSHITMAAAN!!!)

actually got in early admission.

but what you did is called ad-hominem. instead of talking about the issues. you attempted to make it about me. it’s a classic logical fallacy used to divert from the issue at hand.

then you furthered that by hurling more insults. this is a classic appeal to mediocrity.

try again. this time. focus. on the issues.

focus. you can do it.

@CheckYOURself…. yeah, you kind of took an L on this one bro.

I don’t entirely agree with what Anon says but he did have some solid points and if nothing else at least he produced a well reasoned and supported argument.

In terms of Sharpton, yeah he’s a bit of a shill but theres not much option for what a man like him does, not if he wants to put food on the table. But more than that I appreciate the fact he’s expanded his vision, gets his hands dirty, and he can go toe to toe with most of these folks.

i agree the sharpton-approach has tended to be ‘hands on’; and the man is willing to get his hands dirty for his beliefs – but to call it a responsible approach?? not so much..

Cornel west, if you listen to him speak, says a whole lot of nothing. He shows up, and does some television iterview real quick. But when its time to do a march, or support a cause related to the black community…. I NEVER SEE WEST AROUND. And its not like he is teaching some complex subject…. philosophy…. seriously, what can you do with that.

Sharpton is in the streets, he is there, I see him. He achieves results, and he is trying to stand behind another african american… unlike WEST …

I stand with Sharpton on this point. …

LOL they are still fighting when the show is at its end x), tjeez look at these guys they are suppossed to be examples of leaders.. i think obama isnt doing everything what he promised to do, especially the creating jobs part, but wtf has any president done what he has promised to do ? Maybe we are expecting to much of one person, in the end it is a government who has to make a change…

belle 04/16/2011 at 8:32 PM

Actually Barack O has been creating jobs…. there is a rise in job increase…. you can look it up.. THe problem is that there isnt enough jobs being created because he is getting a fight from the republicans on EVERYTHING. THe problem is that the republicans have a majority in congress…. people voted for a democratic president, then voted in republicans for the house. Unfortunetly, there are checks and balances in the United states of america…. so the president cant just say whatever he feels and it be done. So now its a fight, what he wants to puts through, they dont. Just the other day, they were pushing to shut down government. That would have been the loss of BILLIONS of jobs…. THe republicans did not care…. so its a stale mate. But he is doing the best he can with what he has been given

House negros arguing about how well their massa is running the plantation. They are both a joke, because they are not where I live, they are not in the ghettos, they are not home looking for a job. They are not in the everyday struggle to even have a opinion on anything. Arrogant assholes taking about how much they march and do this and that. Please.

Where is Malcolm X when you need him?

Just to be clear, who’s the massa, and if it isn’t obama, is he also a house negro?

belle 04/16/2011 at 8:36 PM

HE IS RIGHT HERE YOU IDIOT…. the problem is that black folks dont support there own.. IE you dont support sharpton or Barack. Back in the day, there was a little more unity…..
And by the way… malcolm X is dead… and when he was alive… he was fighting with Martin luther king….

jive turkey (lol they stole that word from above)

Obama can not run the country with a black agenda. He appointed Van Jones who was to work with inner city youth to create jobs but the republicans got rid of him and ended that. We have to do for ourselves stop waiting around for somebody to fix things for us. Stop thinking somebody owes us something nobody gives anything away you have to take/earn that shit. Sharpton has it right do something stop talking shit from the sidelines.

I front ran the cause for Obama vociferously when I initially discovered his anti Iraqi invasion speech, this was 2007ish.

Obviously he is merely man and is solely responsible for his immediate.
the expectations of messianic transformations of humankind or more specifically the black kind is irresponsibly misguided and displaced.

We all were excited about Obama for one reason or the other.
The primary inference behind my decision to support his candidacy was – to present to the world an engaging, intellectual leader with far reaching appeal.
With hopes that it would stave and stem anti American sentiments which as we know were gaining inescapable momentum around the world.

Now,

That Obama lost me when he invaded Libya.
That Obama MAY NOT get my VOTE.
Between these two brothers who’s right? I don’t quite care.

Reply

belle 04/16/2011 at 8:43 PM

an invasion is with troops… no one is stationed there… they bombed the place.
Side note …. I dont agree with how Libya was handled either. That being said Libya was a joint coalition with NATO in witch the United states supplied early air support that was not an invasion like what George Bush did to two countries. THere was not a single american troop boot in libya
