How Much Do You Think This Andy Warhol Will Cost You?

by admin on 04/22/2011 · 6 comments

You are looking at one of famed artist Andy Warhol’s last works, 1 of 7 of his “Self Portrait” paintings created in 1986 which is 9 feet on all sides and is currently owned by an anonymous American.  If you’re in New York city on May 11th auction house Christie’s will be putting this legendary work up for auction…and you know if you’re asking you can’t, but the expected price is after the jump.

$40,000,000.00 USD

fact that this can fetch that “much” is very nice.

If I didn’t know better I’d say it is a photograph.

It is technically a photograph it’s a technique called silk screening that started in ancient China. Ironically the technique was made so that art could be reproduced in high quantities and thus made cheaper so more common people could own a work that would had to be reproduced manually. The irony is a piece of silk screen art that would sell for 40 million dollars even a 9 ft. Andy Warhol.
