Mel Gibson Talks About His Infamous Tapes That Hit The Internet

by admin on 04/22/2011 · 7 comments

Legendary actor Mel Gibson is finally talking about the series of tapes leaked online that portrayed Mel to be a power hungry lunatic that wanted to knock his girlfriends teeth out because she was a greedy whore. Here’s what he had to say in the calmest of tones in a pretty lengthy interview with Deadline Hollywood:

On the tapes being leaked online:

Who anticipates being recorded? Who anticipates that? Who could anticipate such a personal betrayal?

On people thinking he’s a racist who hates women:

I’ve never treated anyone badly or in a discriminatory way based on their gender, race, religion or sexuality — period. I don’t blame some people for thinking that though, from the garbage they heard on those leaked tapes, which have been edited. You have to put it all in the proper context of being in an irrationally, heated discussion at the height of a breakdown, trying to get out of a really unhealthy relationship. It’s one terribly, awful moment in time, said to one person, in the span of one day and doesn’t represent what I truly believe or how I’ve treated people my entire life.

Find out what Mel had to say about being asked and then un-asked to be in Hangover 2 and what he thought of Whoopi Goldberg coming to his defense after the jump.

On being asked removed from the Hangover 2 movie:

You have to let that go. I sat here and talked to [director] Todd [Phillips] about it. I like Todd. How could you not like Todd? He’s smart and he’s gifted and so are the other people in the film. It’s okay. You just have to let that go.

On Whoopi Goldberg publicly defending him:

I knew Whoopi before she was Whoopi. And, as she’s great and I always liked her and loved her. I like her even more now because she got it.

It’s too bad, Mel. I ride with your flicks hard – Braveheart, Passion of the Christ, Apocalypto…great movies.

I’m mad at you for this though…mainly because you had that viking movie on deck starring DiCaprio & now he’s out and the movie’s likely not even gonna happen. :’(

Mel Gibson had a huge African-American following mostly because we thought he actually liked African-American people. It’s like growing up with someone since you 6 years-old to only have them get mad and call you a nigger when you’re 16. Can you forgive them? Yes, will your relationship ever be the same? No.

I believe that Mel Gibson is a sincere man, and really only means the best. Lets be honest when do you ever really hear something bad about him?? the media will always try kick you when your down, its just a litlle unny they all decided to do so after the big up raw about ‘Passion of Christ’. Looks like the Jews were really out to get him.
