that isn’t an aged squirrel – it seems to have a healthy coat and is full bodied – so it’s likely that it died from poison or a pathogen.
and even if it didn’t – this is the time for lesson teaching for the child. certain things you just don’t touch. example 1: strange animals ALIVE OR DEAD. You do not touch them.
kids need clearly defined boundaries. parents dropped the ball because an excellent opportunity to teach the kid arose and instead of “parenting” they gave the kid attention for it – which all but guarantees she’ll do it again or something like it.

Uhh, it may be bad parenting, but it is not the best time to teach the child what death is. Teaching a child about death very early can have various outcomes. Take a little bit of psychology.

The fact of the matter is, everyone likes different things and people raise their children differently. This little girl obviously loves animals because she’s not afraid to cuddle with a dead one. And I understand her parents want to nurture what she likes. However, I think they should be careful in the future because I’m sure there are some health risks involved with playing with other dead animals their dog kills like possums, racoons, skunks, etc.
