With the emergence of a new breed of hip-hop artists notably Kid Cudi, Nicki Minaj and newcomer Lil’ B also comes a new era of fashion and trends which tie hand-in-hand with their music and image. The three artists that we chose to highlight all have different sounds, come from different backgrounds, have different fashion styles but they all fall under the hip-hop genre and may even share some of the same fans.
Not to say that we haven’t seen these same trends happen before with the Dapper Dan era of hip-hop fashion, which consisted of custom leather outfits paired with unique hats, colors and the classic rope chain worn by the emerging artists and founding fathers of hip-hop including Run DMC, Slick Rick and Public Enemy. Moving from its origins in the Bronx to worldwide mass appeal and the runways of Paris the message is still clear. It’s still Hip-Hop.

Its good to see that Hip Hop can reinvent itself. It the main reason why it tends to have the biggest sales because it finds a way to not be stale.
Finaly a new generation is coming out with their own flavor.

common elements of the new skool hiphop uniform include but are not exclusive to: snapbacks, skinny jeans, lace up vans, wooden jesus pieces, louis purses hanging from the front or foxtails from the back… i cud go on, but im not seein much originality in style this summer, jus lame trends
