I’m lightskin but I think all woman can be beautiful regardless of color
I agree! I have light skin, long hair and I think dark skin is absolutely beautiful. I often tell my friends inside I’m a dark woman. I’ve even tried tanning to get a golden brown skin.
I just wish our community would teach children that no matter your color we’re all beautiful. Black people come in every shade and I think that is so beautiful that we have such a variety.
I used to only date very dark skin men but now I’ve expanded to brown shades. It’s just something about the dark skin that seems so rich to me.
tanning ur self???? what are you trying to do… get cancer so you can not feel guilty for something you are born with!
Stupid
Ignore this Anti-beleiver dickhead. Thank you for your honesty. Some people need to hear that. White people tan all the time. Anything can cause Cancer.
You have serious issues hunny.
“Inside I’m a dark woman…” WTF does that even mean, do they act different or something? Then you go on to say “…I just wish our community would teach children that no matter your color we’re all beautiful”
LMFAO
You don’t even value yourself enough to stay as you are and how God made you. Why are trying to darken yourself? You sound foolish, just like these women in this video
I’m a dark skin Latina & these issues are also present in the Latino community. It’s sad that we have all basically kept the ideas of white supremacy and have enforced them over ourselves which is a big reason why we are still oppressed.
I was going to say the same thing that I’m not black but a tanned latina, and I would get teased in school by other latinos that weren’t as dark as me all the time. I usually don’t date my own race for that reason, they try to tell me Im dark but that Im cute anyway. As latinos we cherish and praise lighter skin as well, 90% of people on spanish tv look of european decent.
Just to piggy back on what with of you are saying…you can be black and still be latina, if your brazilian, puerto rican, dominican or any of the caribbean islands…etc you have african in you not just european!!!! that’s why your skin is dark..just say’n.
“we have [...] enforced them over ourselves”
So why blame white people?
because it was a learned behavior.
gotta light skinned friend look like michael jackson
gotta dark skinned friend look like michael jackson
I know this is a real issue but this clip seems like some extra-melodramatic ish. I’m a dark skinned dude and I know the rules are a little different for men than women but the world is a racist place and that’s just that. Dwelling on this sh*t ain’t gon’ help. I don’t have anything agiainst light skinned. When I was a kid I talked that green eyes long hair shit too. But I just grew out of that filter. I just look for ‘pretty face, thick thighs and ass, reasonable breasts, smell nice…’ and I keep it moving from there.
The truth is ‘you’ have to accept ‘you’ for who you are before anyone else does and if they don’t for that superficial light-dark BS then you’re probably better off without them anyway. Ignorance runs deep and wide, you can’t stop it you just gotta not let it stop you….
Props to my latinas above. I have a couple dark skinned latin friends. Seems like they definitely took that ignorance hard growing up.
“Ignorance runs deep and wide, you can’t stop it you just gotta not let it stop you….”
This statement applies to everything oppressive.
Thanks Brother
Beautiful Black Women I Bet That Bitch Look Better Red
All the ladies that commented at the top of this thread.
I love ya’ll the way you are.
Holla at me!!!!
^ What an ego! ^
On a side note: This documentary is much needed.
There are some issues within our community that are important and need to be addressed ASAP.
I think the dark skin issue is not really within the people that dislike it but more of who is teaching them. Color is the first thing we see being human and of course color is thought to us at a young age and so we tend to live with we know (been thought) for a long time. Lighter colors are more beautiful (that is the main idea being thought). We are in the age that anything can be beautiful. We make our own beauty and that shows over the years: What was once unclean is now cool, what was ones stupid is now funny. What looked gay, is now a style… etc.
Well this is not only affecting the darker skin but also the lightest skin. Society want to be in the middle, the darker want to get lighter and lighter people want to get darker. (then the obese want to loose weight, and skinny want to loose more weight).
To me the most funny thing is that back in the days having an ass to caucasian was being overweight (because any type of fat was not wanted). Now even the ones with not fat in their behing (ass) think they have it, and it is something everyone one wants. But no one ever talked about how majority of the black women have ass and have always been proud of it. NO ONE CAN HAVE IT ALL.!!! there are somethings favorable in black genes that whites cannot have and vise versa.
At the end, no one is beautiful and everyone is beautiful. But no one make anyone feel the way they feel about themselves but rather it is the person who has a say in the way they will be perceived. It is in the mind that truly everything lies.
Something I wrote a few years back:
Seeing Colors
The worst came when I saw color. Because I felt even more alone that being in solitude. I was alone in a different world that few have enter; few compared with the number of Black men and women in this world. I felt a black stone inside white walls. I felt a shade under the blinding sun. I did not understand the feeling, but I thought I was overcoming myself in search for the truth.
In the search for the truth, I found the untrue. I found that I am a person of no color. I found that when I thought I had a color, I began separating myself from those who have fed me key points that helped me become who I am. I began to look for a person of identical color who bears identical feelings as I do for the world. I found even more friendship in the people of the same color as I, but many of their views were bias against their own identity. I realized that I was the chosen one; in more of a sense that I was the one who was accepted by all the people by different background, culture, and race.
I am a man of no color; I am not white nor black. I became once more a man of no color. Happiness began to fill me against all of negative of those that held pain over what they did not experience. Because in searching for the truth, I found the untrue. The untruth which then help me found the truth is the guidance I needed to realize who I am.
I am who I am today because all of the obstacles that have stepped in between me and living. All of the things that have made me doubt where I am, all of the things that have made me doubt what I see, and all of the things that have made me realize what is real. I am who I am today, but I will be different tomorrow. I am all that I am for right now, only based on all that I have experienced.
GET SOME HEART MAN. YOU SOUND WEAK AND DEFEATED.
OKAY, YOUR A MAN OF NO COLOR, BUT ARE YOU A MAN OF NO COLOR WILLING TO STAND UP FOR WHAT IS RIGHT? ARE YOU BITCHING BECAUSE YOU NOT WHITE? FROM THE SOUND OF THIS. THE ANSWER IS NO TO THE FIRST QUESTION AND YES TO THE SECOND QUESTION. YOU NEED GO TO GOD AND GET SOME FUCKING HEART.
Go back and reread (and when you read, make sure you read it slow so you can better understand).
It is simply saying that color is not a issue at times but people make it an issue. And when those who think color is a problem spread their (many times) false information to others, they put other blacks who could have remain otherwise with no knowledge of racism start to thing that they may be a victim which turns their life upside down….
I have no color means I am not white and I am not white. If you people want equality, this is how they must think. But everyone is proud of their race and tend to place others as less equal….
Oh and lastly… your area dumb broad, grow some balls and stop hiding behing racism… the fact is you are( War Machine) Not going to get anywhere in life you fucking fag!!!!.
Hello EOU while I see where your entry was going with a “man of no color,” from my personal experiences as a dark skin African American female I must disagree. While in a “perfect” society we could exist as no-color beings, however the reality is that people look different. Furthermore, there are no pink, yellow, purple, or green people and to saw that you see no color is a sense of denial. However, I must agree with your concerning “people make it an issue.”
Historically speaking, people of color (i.e.,Blacks) have been broken down only to be build again by the ideals of our oppressor. Our history has been stripped only to be “Hollywoodized” and be credited to others. Thus, we have no sense of pride as a people…resulting in no unity, black-on-black crime, and romanticizing any and all thing non-black.
It truly is a sad day when as a dark skin woman, my black brothers refer to me as “exotic.”
Where is the unity? Where is the pride?……..Read a book, learn our history….I think that is a starting place…for the “Matrix” has deceived a lot of people……*drops mic….walks away*
So your calling me a fag because i’m telling you to go to god and get some fucking heart and pride to still up for black women and your race?
To Journey_sofab… I cannot say I understand where you are coming from because I have almost no experience with racism. The time I thought I received racism is when I hung with my brother that made me feel wrong for wanting to be accepted in an office. (I sound white when I pick up my phone I was told, I act white when I’m amongst certain people I’m told) what about just simply trying to be professional. Is professionalism created by whites? and if so, must I hate it? Must I limit myself just to please those who feel they are fighting the man? I do not know. The difference between us and other race is that they stick together. (why where BLACKS used as slaves?) do you know? Why did they not use the Indians rather than Kill more than 10 millions of them? Is it because we were strong and had much more hope? Is it because we had such great spirit that we could not be broken and so living we fought hard for?
I lived in Europe and I was the only black person in the town. At first I was looked different. Within months of living there, I was another being rather than a black man. I received no differential treatment.
Is it then just America that this goes on? If so why then did i feel welcome everywhere I go and my peers felt un-welcomed? Was it that I understood that when I’m in an unfamiliar area, I must act accordingly to gain respect?
To all women, black or white, yellow or green, the fact is that you are women and sticking together is the only way to overcome things such as this. when you divide yourselves in beauty, in education, in race, and such is when you lose the most. As far as race, when people in the same race shoe jealousy and disrespect is when all lose the most…. [One thing I read that stock with me is that IF YOU KILL ONE MAN, YOU KILL ALL MAN] another is that [KARMA is a female chick and so if you mess with her, prepare to receive yours!!!]
@War Machine I said what I said because I have little respect for someone who dares use the word GOD in the same sentence when they swear and judge. Do you swear in front of your parents? If so, shame on you!!!!! And GOD has nothing to do with racism as he said HE would not interfere with man again!!!!
Isn’t it funny how the white race of people are behind ALL OF THE WHITE SUPREMACY WORLD WIDE? Those fucking White Pencil Nose, River Rats think that they ae fucking better than everbody. The only thing that the white race of people do is TAKE TAKE TAKE! They hating the black race of people but they have a history of slavery because they were lazy ass rug rats.
The White race of people are the only ones that actually got a history of almost killing off the Native Americans. So i really don’t give a fucking about light skin vs Dark skin. Because all the light skinned people i been around, they don’t have no fucking heart to stand up against racism. And some darkskin people of today’s society be walking around here acting like fucking wannanbes.
Every african american swear to god that Obama’s the first african american president when he is clearly THE FIRST BI RACIAL president. But when this is said out loud black people say “well he looks black because of skin tone and features” But at the end of the day his is bi racial because Obama came out of the womb of a white woman. Obama didn’t come out of a womb of a black woman. And to all of people saying that “Ignorance runs deep and wide, you can’t stop it you just gotta not let it stop you….”
This type of thinking is the reason why white people run everything and everybody else is second and third class slavery wage citizens! GET SOME FUCKING HEART PEOPLE! Those types of statments are self defeated staments. “I RATHER DIE BRAVE THAN LIVE LIKE A FUCKING SLAVE!” What is the use of pimping out your light skin or dark skin if you don’t have no heart and you ‘re being mental slaves to other races of people?
And the latina and latino community need the get some fucking heart too because the white people stay on tv saying that yall the ones taking over and that the white people neeed to do something about this. Taking over to the latino community shouldn’t mean acting like the same white devils because at the end of the day that isn’t going to get you into the whiteman’s club. They will still want you to be maids.
Those white devils elites are trying to takeover everybody that isn’t white. What do you think they are doing now in the Middle East, Africa, and all the Latino countries and in South America. And high yellow puppet ass president obama is letting all this stuff happen. So at the end of the day it’s not about who’s light or who’s dark it’s about what light or dark people are doing good or bad. Because there are light skinned puppets and there are dark skinned puppets too. BUT WHERE ARE ALL MY LIGHT SKIN, DARK SKIN, AND LATINOS WITH HEART AT!?
SO Um what does all this bs have to do w the dark girls blog post. u kinda drifted off to politics bro, which is a whole other controversial topic. i know u speaking w ur CHEST right now but stick w the topic bruh : )
I’m very much on subject because black women are crying because they aren’t white. Plan and simple. The point that i was making was WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO BE LIKE YOUR EVIL OPPRESSORS? Why do anybody want to look like the people that 60 years ago wanted you and me to be a fucking slave. I will never want to look like the fucking enemy freedom thieves.
Um what does all this bs have to do w the dark girls blog post. u kinda drifted off to politics bro, which is a whole other controversial topic. i know u speaking w ur CHEST right now but stick w the topic bruh : )
I think that there are so many factors as to why some dark girls do not believe that they are not beautiful. Primarily, i think it starts off with our social outlets such as music, film, publications. Name me one dark skin RnB artists that is selling records? but i can name some red bone artists for you Alycia Keys, Beyonce, Monica & Marsha Ambrosious. And you know some black women want to be like Beyonce. lol
Our Dark skin women are not appreciated to the degree that they should be. Kanye West and Amber Rose. Lil Wayne is dating european chick as dark as his ass is but these images perpetuates the false idea that dark skin girls are not good enuf. I believe. N u know people want what they see on tv or the media. Our society, our generation could be two faced at times. We can be very hypocritical at times. Say one thing do another.
I cant speak for everyone but we need to start reinforcing the beauty of black women within our own culture. And honestly it will have to start w the parents. the black fathers. black men. people claim that they dnt need acceptance from other people but they do. we all do.
these are just some of my thoughts on this issue.
I concur Jay, however I believe it goes deeper than the media; while the media surely serves as the moving force. War Machine was on to something….when it comes to socialization and how people learn, it is important to consider traditions and HISTORY, this “plan” has been in place for centuries. For reasons unknown to me, it feels that their almost a sense of a personal vendetta against Black people, everything from invading Africa, slavery, Eugenics, drugs, incarceration rate, and the demoralization of the mother of the human society….the black woman.
I hope that this changes and feel optimistic about the future of my daughter, but I am saddened to think that as a people and a human society we are still so easily divided….
@ EOU So your calling me a fag because i’m telling you to go to god and get some fucking heart and pride to stand up for black women and your race?
War Machine is trying to put some fire and pride in your heart because you was sounding like a poetic weakling. Fags would tell you to bent over and give up your booty.
one question… ‘how old are you?’
one statement…’you sound like a fucking fool’.
I am a black, dark skinned woman and I found this documentary to be quite disturbing!
Why must we continue to look to others to define our beauty? Never in my life have I experienced any of these things these women speak of and I come from a family of many different complexions, skins tones, and hair texture. My mother is as bright as this background and grandfather was darker than night!
That being said their complexions or skin tone didn’t justify their beauty. I believe the obsession with skin color is only from people who are insecure and lack self esteem.
Why is it, that in this documentary childhood taunts have stayed with them their entire life? Why has it affected them this long? You can’t choose what color you are, how tall you are, etc…. those things just are!!! So why let it bother you so much?
Personally, I feel like our society loves to bring the insecurites (of some) black women to the forefront, in order to instill the theme, that we are inferior to other races.
The comments above speak on how this goes on in the hispanic community. Well ladies, the truth is… it happens within every race! White people discriminate against brunnettes and redhed! That is just the way this world is, not everyone is going to like or appreciate your beauty. So move on!
My problem with entire thing is why must, black women always be put on display?
They do it with the topics of marriage, abortion, weight, and love/relationships all the time. They give us statistics to let us know we ain’t getting married, black men don’t prefer us, we kill our babies, we’re angry, and we’re overweight.
Those are the themes we constantly see in the media when it is about us… and what do we do? DRINK THE MUTHA FUKIN KOOL-AID!! We buy their books, listen to their shows and support their movies.
Well not I, fuck society and fuck you lame twats for allowing others to justify your value.
I couldn’t have said it better @Rain on your parade!!!
understood…and agreed. what to do about these little ones tho…grown folks can definately come to grips with childhood taunts..but who planted that foolishness in the mind of that child?
THAT WAS DISTURBING!
The point of what I was saying is it doesn’t matter who puts these ideas in peoples head. It’s ignorance! And to waste more time trying to figure out the mind of dumb fucks, is idiotic and ridiculous. We should focus on more important issues. Not this! Every loser with an asshole is entitled to his or her opinion, the goal is to teach our children self worth and values. So they won’t turn into bitter ass adults crying about being called a tar baby!
@ Rain On Your Parade. Beautifully said wise women, beautifully said!!!!
