The Associated Press reports that Atlanta minister Bishop Eddie Long’s civil lawsuits from four boys who accused him of sexual acts against them last year have been settled out of court it was announced over the weekend. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s daughter Rev. Bernice King who was and Elder at Long’s New Birth Missionary church is leaving the church as well – with reports saying she was already leaving and that it has no relation to the charges.

Those boys got a big pay off. Each of those boys got a couple of millions of dollars in hush money. But the media don’t even mention that part of the story.
The accusers didn’t get hush money. The got victim compensation money!

I spoke to a member of his church today, he told me he would still let his son go on trips with this dude. brainwashed isn’t the word… lobotomized would be more suitable. he can do NO WRONG… especially if he simply avoids the case altogether. Being gay is not the major issue here, but his abuse of trust among the youth is. In his role as a mentor he was seducing and grooming these boys to be his sex partners. In my opinion that goes far beyond being a closeted homo who secretly slept with consenting full grown adults. I could never attend his church because I would never be able to believe or trust him.
I’m an atheist so I wouldn’t go to church period. But if he’s a faggot just admit it. It’s almost 2012, it’s pretty much acceptable nowadays to come out. He gotta pay them out of court to shut them up. His whole rep is officially tarnished.

It’s been reported that he paid $15 million in hush money/settlement funds. Like Big Boi of Outkast recently stated: “Innocence doesn’t cost that much.” I agree.
there is not doubt in my mind that he molested those boys. it’s shame that he has exploited religion and god the way he has with that mega-church to make a buck. I hope people realize that and walk away from New Birth, but we all know how black people are when it comes to religion.

Bishop Long is a man who seized the opportunity to take advantage of the downtrodden, the unsaved, the lost and depressed and people looking for something that they felt was missing where they perhaps had been attending church. Is he a false teacher and did he lead some, in his flock down the slippery slope of degredation and despair? It doesn’t matter how we all feel, God, in the end will judge Mr Long. He can and perhaps has asked for forgiveness and he has perhaps even repented, but, the Bible says that as a man soweth, that, he also shall reap. Our God, will forgive him, and some of the people in his mega church will, but, there will always be that element of a trust issue regardless. People, we must read, study and pray for ourselves and thereby arm ourselves the words of Jesus who knew that this kind of behavior would be practiced in our churches, schools, neighborhood and pitifully in our churches. May the Lord Have Mercy.
How would you handle this Bishop Long if this had been your son ? Would you Just Pray for the personand ask god to help the man. It is obvious bishop long need to cry out to god and ask for liberty or death. Bishop you cannot free yourself So I beg of you to let the power of the true and living god to set you free, It would be ashamed to live your life preaching the word of god then die and miss that place called heaven when jesus is there and want to set you free. think on these things
