By a very close vote of 33-to-29 the New York Senate passed a landmark bill on Friday making it legal in New York state for same sex marriages to wed.  New York now becomes the sixth state where gays can marry and because of its large population will potentially double the amount of same sex marriages in the US.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo addresses New Yorkers after the jump.

could you be more ignorant? the amount of revenue the state (and other states) will generate alone is worth legalizing it. plus i dont understand whats so sacred about marriage seeing that over half of straight marriages end in divorce.

We all have opinions but that doesn’t mean it is not ignorant. We all are capable of ignorant opinions and in this case that was one! Just to think over 40 years ago racism was a ignorant opinion. Let us all take a step forward not backwards. No one is telling you to subscribe to their marriages, Just treat them with respect like you would any other tax paying American and see past their Sexual Orientation just realize they are human beings like yourself who want the same rights under the law. As Thomas Jefferson Quoted “If it not picks my pocket or breaks my leg what is it to me? “
