Check out the Zero Emission Hypersonic Transportation (ZEHST) which EADS (plane maker) is aiming to have fly from Tokyo to Paris in two and a half hours. They plan to achieve this by using two large ramjets which would leave not a lot of room for passengers – about 50 to 100.
Don’t look to see this thing in the air until about 2040!
