An art exhibit!!! hahahahaha!!!

This is not art – it`s silly and elementary.

Gay-Z and Kangay are like children playing in a grown ups world.

Their illiterate audience think they`re deep but anyone with a degree recognizes that their command of the English language is poor and as a result, their use of metaphor and simile are juvenile.

Go get an education folks

what's your point? 08/13/2011 at 9:47 AM

Is the exhibit not art? Are they gay? Or are you elementary?

how can you call anyone juvenile when you refer to these dudes as gay-z and kangay?

this is the classic definition of irony.

now, how do you feel?

*translation*

cute = fat + big feet

light-skinned = early wrinkles = you have crow’s feet and frown lines and liver spots/moles already

top college educated = nail technician or weave stylist

Lolita 08/14/2011 at 8:28 PM

stay lyin’ to yourself “brick” How many weave stylist speak 4 languages…huh?
I’m better than you and these new money, deal with it #POW
only ignorant dark skinned ex drug dealers would do this type of “exhibit”.

brick 08/14/2011 at 9:19 PM

4 languages? bitch you don’t even speak english.

you’re so bitter it’s easy to tell a lot about you.

first off, i doubt you’re a woman. you’re likely a closeted male. but for argument’s sake let’s say you’re a woman.

it’s interesting what you denied and what you didn’t. you are a big bitch, ain’t you? that spanx fucking up your midsection right now, ain’t it? stacks on stacks on stacks of guts?

you’re eating a cinnabon right now? it’s ok – don’t feel a way. they’re delicious.

since you’re so cultured, what kind of exhibit would you go to? be honest and…. don’t google it you cockeyed, thundergutted strumpet.

heh

Garvin 08/13/2011 at 3:35 PM

why would you make such stupid comments. define art for me is art only paintints on a wall. so you think a degree is education then if that is your belief you are ceratainly not educated. i have no problems with peoples opinions but it is the manner in which it is done. saying you dont like something just to let hate out is certainly not educated. illiterate? because i am a poet i take deep offence to that because i would write my words and pronounce them any way i feel. poetry/rap was never about proper english but about finding new ways to say things that you have already heard and make em (i chose to use em instead of them) better. Guess in illiterate and your the smartest alive. WATCH THE THRONE. telling a millionares to get a education LMAO

You’re a poet?!?!?! Poets often have a strong command of the English language. After reading your post, it’s obvious that you do not. So maybe being a poet isn’t such a good career plan little one. That was cute though! Ha ha ha!!

Your grammar is horrendous as is your spelling.

Go get an education and maybe we can talk on the same level. I doubt it though.

How many critically acclaimed #1 albums have you had?

Don’t worry, I’ll wait…

*crickets*

That’s what I thought, you condescending prick.

Reply

Anonymous 08/14/2011 at 2:44 AM

Critically acclaimed? By who? Writers of music. What about the musicians/the peers? No one that is a serious craftsman or woman looks at these fools as influences. They aren’t influencing generations of musicians – they’re influencing a generation of young kids who admire the business aspect of the package. A tiny minority get the business success that these two have acquired – far more people are successful as a result of getting an education. You fools need to stop acting like these two illiterate fools have had a positive impact on the youth of today.

Chuck Wagon 08/13/2011 at 11:51 PM

Resorting to policing his grammar and assessing his intelligence based on a blog comment? God forbid any of my professors get a hold of my texts!!! Ur wack 4 that! (I used text slang and a number in place of a word, there go all my college credits!!! LOL)

Chucky Cheese Wagon,

Everyone and your mom gets into post-secondary and graduate school these days. Having a degree was once impressive but these days that’s no longer the case.

The manner in which we present ourselves often demonstrates how we feel about ourselves. Kanye and Jay-Z obviously believe that they are creating art that is deep in meaning, insightful and worth an exhibit. That is far from the case – this music they make is uninspiring to a certain class of folk – the educated mindful class – I am not talking about money.

Kanye and Jay-Z themselves are unaware – they are silly and so are their fans.

For Real 08/14/2011 at 11:36 AM

Just shut up. Foolio. Comming on a blog trying to school people… Jay and Kanye are way smarter than u.. I probably am…

Ahem, in my DEXTER VC- But since I have not chosen this moment to “command the English language”

Shut the F*** up u sound dumb as hell.

Cat 08/14/2011 at 1:12 PM

You do not need an education to be an artist of any type, including a poet. It’s not about grammar it’s about expression. I went to college to study art, but honestly I don’t think that school is for everyone. I was born an artist, now I’m an artist with student loans.

Anonymous 08/15/2011 at 7:09 AM

You are absolutely right Cat… I’m an artist as well and it is all about expression. However, when your art includes the use of the English language, I think you and I can agree that it would be beneficial to have a strong understanding of the language you create your art in.

It’s like a guitar player who only knows three chords compared to a guitar player who knows major, minors, 7ths, 9ths, etc. One player has more tools to express and convey meaning/emotion with.

Joni Mitchell will and has written metaphors that are far more rich than anything Jay-Z and Kanye have ever done to this point.

Anonymous 08/13/2011 at 9:17 PM

illiterate audience? hmm obama & oprrah arent too illiterate .. as you were

Reply

Chuck Wagon 08/13/2011 at 11:54 PM

He doesn’t respect success, only grammar. Probably a high school English teacher.

Reply

Obama and Oprah are in positions where they need to demonstrate to their audience that they are with the times so to speak. Jay-Z is a pawn in their game and a little one for that matter. When President Obama seeks knowledge on the youth of today, he will not be contacting an overpaid, undertalented, record company prop to speak on the matter. He’ll be contacting people who grew up in these types of geographic spaces, got an education, and came back to their old stomping grounds to uplift those people who remained disadvantaged.

Jay-Z is an entertainer – not a musician or a creator of mindful art.

I just got my physical copy today, and I have been listening to the album for the past week, and to be honest THIS IS CLASSIC! I mean u hear all the same bullshit all day, this here man is a serious MOVEMENT! THIS IS ART! Thank U Jay-Z and Kayne West for actually caring about the consumer and putting something special out for US, your fans!

This is not art son… this is amateur decade.

Real lyricists, real musicians, real songwriters, real arrangers and real singers are on the back burner while ‘artists’ like Jay-Z and Kanye remain pigeons of a music industry that is prepared to sell anything to make a buck.

Joni Mitchell, Prince, Sly Stone, Michael Jackson, Rick James, R Kelly, Burt Bacarach, Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding, Jack White, Quincy Jones, Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, Mariah Carey, James Brown, Bootsy, and countless others demonstrated what it’s like to create art that is unique and full of character. Where did the fascination with composing new sounds go?!?!?!

These two kids are horrible and will never be mentioned along the lines of the above mentioned musical hurricanes.

Logical Thought 08/13/2011 at 8:09 PM

You’re comparing apples to oranges; e.g. Different genres and different generations.

Why are you so jaded? Did Jay-Z & Kanye stub you, when you tried to get their autograph or something?

You sound like an old, lonely, bitter old man, who is completely out of touch with youth, in general. It’s ok… you should dust off those old 45s, sit back, relax and reminisce on your hey day — however many decades ago that was.

Debating if rap is poetry or art in 2011…wow. Sorry, get a life. I mean, I respect Joni Mitchell etc and great musicians, but if you are questioning whether Jay-Z is a real or worthwhile artist or musician, that’s just sad. It’s an artform/music style called rap/hip hop. To the “new money” and “grammar/good English” commenters, you know it doesn’t matter if money is new or old, there are tacky people with new money, and with old money. Good English? You think all poets need totally correct grammar? Sad.
