I am in Central New Jersey, I did not feel it but my husband who was in the other room did. He came running out to see if I had felt it.

I was sitting at my desk at work and everything started shaking. I looked at my co-worker to confirm what had just happened. I moved from Tornado Central (Kansas) to this? I guess anything can happen anywhere.

Correct me if I’m wrong; Earthquakes are highly unusual on the East Coast, right?

And this one (albeit minor) rocked the entire Eastern seaboard, from VA to Canada…

So, this is like some “End of Days” type shit, huh?

Yep… 2012 is gonna be a problem.

you’re stupid…

do some research you religious fool….

there are faults lines all over the eastern US side BUT the under layer of the crust is a different make up than on the west coast. The west coast sits on layers of bedrock. East coast doesn’t have many layers under it…. plus VA/DC is swampy…. look a Jersey….

always some idiot want to connect natural occurrences to religion

Virginia is not on an edge of a continental plate where sudden, jerking movement occurs regularly; Virginia is in the relatively-stable middle of a plate. That’s why Virginia does not experience the large-magnitude earthquakes that affect Los Angeles, Alaska, Haiti, Japan, Chile, or other places that are on a tectonic plate’s edge.

The last “big one” in Virginia, prior to this one, (which was also about a 5.8 on the Richter scale) was on May 31, 1897, in Pearisburg, the county seat of Giles County.

My office shook – 43 floors up in midtown Manhattan. I also witnessed 9/11 out the window of my previous office. So anything like this freaks me out. I’m just glad it was only this. Makes you appreciate life!!
