Breaking News: Steve Jobs Steps Down As CEO Of Apple

by admin on 08/24/2011 · 18 comments

WOAH!  Just about a half hour ago it was reported that Apple CEO Steve Jobs has stepped down from his post as the head of Apple and he will be replaced by the current COO Tim Cook.  Here is his actual resignation letter below:

To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Steve

Definitely a great CEO. I hope he gets better. What CEO of a major company do you know who will give out their personal email and actually answer the general public’s questions? He ran his business so well when he gouged the shit out of us by making products like the ipad obsolete after less than a year by offering a 2nd generation, we (me included) very quietly purchased the new only slightly better product and were happy to do it. lol ilove Apple. I even did a research paper about their 1984 Apple Macintosh commercial that was based on the book 1984, for a marketing class.

Sorry to see Steve Jobs go. A toast to the man who singlehandedly revolutionized the computer, music, mobile phone & animation industries. He even revolutionized the field of marketing, just look at how many other campaigns have been influenced by Apple. Get Well Steve, you deserve all the accolades you are receiving and more.

To all the naysayers who belittle his contribution, significance and accomplishments, I say “you do it” if you feel it’s not so hard or at least point out any other current CEO even remotely close to him. As a CEO his record is untouchable. Anyone who can bring a company from the brink of bankruptcy to the second most powerful, in such a short span, deserves to be revered.

I think our great grandchildren will be reading and studying about Steve Jobs, just as we studied about Henry Ford and Thomas Edison. College courses will be devoted to Steve Jobs, and rightfully so.

Steve Jobs took Einstein’s, “Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler” and applied it to every product he created and by doing so introduced the masses to technology and by doing so all our lives have been enriched. Even if you aren’t a fan of Apple and have a Windows PC, an Android phone and tablet, those have all been influenced by Steve Jobs and Apple, from functionality to its aesthetics. Jobs changed how we look at and interact with technology, forever.

I would also like to note that as an American I feel that we were blessed to have a man like Steve Jobs as one of our own. I remember in the 90′s when we had to look towards Japan for new and innovative technology. Steve Jobs made America shine throughout the world again as a beacon of technological ingenuity and innovation, again. We as Americans should be proud that Apple, an American company, is at the forefront of technology and admired and coveted throughout the world. At a time when there isn’t too much to be proud of in America he created a world leader, admired throughout the world.
