Conservative talking head Ann Coulter took to her Twitter page to make some jokes about what she’s calling the “media’s new baby seal”, Troy Davis who was executed in Georgia yesterday. This lady is cold!

It’s nearly impossible to receive a death sentence these days — unless you do something completely crazy like shoot a cop in full view of dozens of witnesses in a Burger King parking lot, only a few hours after shooting at a passing car while exiting a party. That’s what Troy Davis did in August 1989. Davis is the media’s current baby seal of death row.
After a two-week trial with 34 witnesses for the state and six witnesses for the defense, the jury of seven blacks and five whites took less than two hours to convict Davis of Officer Mark MacPhail’s murder, as well as various other crimes. Two days later, the jury sentenced Davis to death.
Now the media claim that seven of the nine witnesses against Davis at trial have recanted. First of all, the state presented 34 witnesses against Davis — not nine — which should give you some idea of how punctilious the media are about their facts in death penalty cases.
Among the witnesses who did not recant a word of their testimony against Davis were three members of the Air Force, who saw the shooting from their van in the Burger King drive-in lane. The airman who saw events clearly enough to positively identify Davis as the shooter explained on cross-examination, “You don’t forget someone that stands over and shoots someone.”

Look, if he’s innocent then everyone’s faith in God has been tested and failed. Revenge is best dealt from the hands on Elohim.
If he’s guilty, the same thing, Revenge is better severed from the hands of God.
But, as far as Ann Coulter, she’ll believe what she likes. Jugdement of her type (whatever type she is) is better left to God.
have to admit, if you believe in God its hard to say you think capital punishment should exist.
I think that is why it is not used as much and juries tend to not vote for it. it is VERY hard to get a death penalty… even those on death row stay there on average of 15+ years because no one wants to make the mistake of killing someone who is innocent.

with that said… I think we ALL can think of reasons why it exists. Again, that home invasion case where they raped and burnt the family alive just because would be an example of why it does exist I guess.
but one way or another it is a sad day. Nothing happy to report here. I am not sure why Ann Couter can be so happy someone just got “fried”
Well, there is no more famous case of an innocent person’s being condemned to death than when God’s own Son, Jesus Christ, endured an unjust trial on trumped-up charges, suffered, and died on a wooden cross. Yet God did not intervene. The need for justice is so strong that it seems He is willing to put up with an occasional wrong conviction rather than remove the death penalty.
But God is also merciful. He often shows charity and mercy when the death penalty is due. David committed murder, yet God did not take his life. In John chapter 8 we read that the scribes and Pharisees brought to Jesus a woman caught in adultery, and asked Him whether she should be stoned to death, as the Law of Moses required. Jesus said, “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.” They all left.
God allows governments to impose the death penalty. We should all be aware that if we do wrong in a country that allows the death penalty, we must be ready for the punishment.
Those who say the death penalty isn’t a deterrent to crime miss the point. The penalty is not chiefly to deter others, but to punish and remove from society the one who would perpetrate such serious crimes.
she’s right in the sense that troy davis did become the media’s new baby seal.
85% of the people on twitter who were talking all this free Troy shit this week never heard of him a week ago. these are people who jump on the latest trend.
where she’s wrong is that a country that gives it government the right to execute its own citizens UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES – that country is populated by fucking idiots – because those idiots can’t imagine a scenario where capital punishment laws would apply to them.
end capital punishment.
ann coulter is just acting up until she gets some black dick. that’ll straighten her out.
DON’T AGREE
30+ witnesses, and other evidence just trumps it not being him. I wasn’t there but it would seem 30+ people were.
Capital punishment are for those who comment such incredible crimes that they need to go. That home invasion case where they burnt the family alive… AFTER RAPING the mother in front of the kids… is a good example of why it exists.

As for ann coulter… she is a loud shrew… no one should jump for joy that someone was executed. I hope she realized that those capital punishment laws also apply to her (and you) as well.
there are no good examples for giving your government the right to kill its own citizens.
The government is not designed to be a punitive agency. the penal system is not designed intrinsically to PUNISH people. that’s not the government’s job. ostensibly the goal of the penal system is to protect the rights of the innocent by removing offenders from the active population.
this is what was in the original design. religion has corrupted government so that it is now the hand of “God”. It “punishes.” that has no logical precept except it gives government powers it shouldn’t have – like killing its own citizens under its own parameters.
not to mention, like in this case – it preferentially targets the poor and non-white. It’s legalized lynching. any black person who supports capital punishment…. wow. no words.
@ Anon 2:20, you are so right about the twitter thing. Sadly, I am one of the many that wasn’t aware of this case until the media zoomed in on it.
she’s not cold you however are an antiamerican cunt and hollowed out twat and a moral idiot-get off the planet
Yeah, shouldn’t rejoice over the killing of a criminal, even if it’s lawful. But, after reading Ann Coulter’s column I am comfortable beyond a reasonable doubt that they got the right guy and the system worked.
And those bleeding-heart liberals make me puke anyway. Speaking in general terms, I am happy to see them get heartburn every time
