The execution of Troy Davis last night at 11:08 PM, EST set off a wave of reactions and comments on the Internet with celebrities and supporters taking to their Facebook pages and Twitter’s to voice their opinion on his killing. Here is the statement that he gave to the family and witnesses:
“I’d like to address the MacPhail family,” Davis said, according to The Associated Press. “Let you know, despite the situation you are in, I’m not the one who personally killed your son, your father, your brother. I am innocent.
“The incident that happened that night is not my fault,” he added. “I did not have a gun. All I can ask … is that you look deeper into this case so that you really can finally see the truth.
“I ask my family and friends to continue to fight this fight,” he said. “For those about to take my life, God have mercy on your souls. And may God bless your souls.”

I don’t think he was a saint or martyr but one thing is for sure, his struggle didn’t go unnoticed. I’m glad attention was raised and people that weren’t in the know are now aware of his story
This story pisses me off so bad! They could kill this guy with all that reasonable doubt but they couldn’t kill Casey Anthony? I no longer have any faith in our justice system…. RIP Troy Davis.
Capital punishment is wrong on so many levels, it astounds me that a “civilised” nation in the 21st century continues to execute its citizens. Rest in peace…I hope your story is not forgotten.
