Taraji P. Henson Is Happy She Didn’t Win An Oscar In 2009

by admin on 10/13/2011 · 4 comments

Taraji talks about breaking the boundaries of black Hollywood in the latest YRB magazine, saying this about not winning a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button where she played Queenie, a woman who helped raise him.

“I really am glad that I didn’t win the Oscar that year. [African-American actors] have already won awards for playing those types of characters. I’m ready for us to win by [acting in] a comedy or a love story or just something different than the norm.”

Reading the headline, I thought she was going to say she’s glad that she didn’t win it at THAT stage of her career. Eventually though, something tells me that Taraji will get one!
