Amy Winehouse’s Cause Of Death Is Finally Revealed

by admin on 10/26/2011 · 5 comments

According to the coroners office, Amy Winehouse died of from consuming too much alcohol after not drinking for three weeks causing her body to go into shock and then a coma which caused her untimely passing.

The St Pancras coroner, Suzanne Greenway, said: “She had consumed sufficient alcohol at 416mg per decilitre [of blood] and the unintended consequence of such potentially fatal levels was her sudden and unexpected death.”

The inquest heard that a postmortem examination of her body found her vital organs in good health and with no traces of illegal drugs. But the amount of alcohol in her system could have stopped her breathing and sent her into a coma.

The pathologist who conducted the postmortem said that at 200mg of alcohol per decilitre of blood someone would lose control of their reflexes, and 350mg was considered a fatal level.

I read the extended version of this and it said her vital organs were healthy, she had no traces of drugs in her body and before this night she hadn’t had a drink for 3 weeks :( Let’s hope her loss brings some awareness to the plight of alcohol and drug addiction. It’s terrible that as a society we (and the media in particular) look down on addicts and criticize them rather than viewing what they have as a disease, as it is… if you do not overcome it, you will die. It also raises the question as to why in the USA and the UK (countries with huge amounts of wealth) do so many individuals from every class/background turn to drugs and alcohol?
