Is This Chapstick Ad Offensive To Women?

by admin on 10/26/2011 · 21 comments

This Chapstick ad is getting some pretty negative reviews online, causing the brand to delete many of the comments it generated on their Facebook page.  Who’s offended?

I think that people in this country complain FAR TOO MUCH! It’s really a search for the ability to sue or to make a statement, bold enough to get noticed. I saw the ad prior to it being removed and it was most certainly not offensive or sexist. People need to just get over themselves and enjoy a good joke. And we wonder why music has lost soul, TV shows lost their funny & why the flavour of America has gone BLAND. smmfh!

They don’t have shit else to do but look too deeply into these things, maybe if they put the blackberries down, took the remote out of their kids hands things like this wouldn’t bother them.

Exactly how I feel! I don’t even know who it offends. Is it women in general or fat women? There is a mixture of it and idk the original offense. Either way its DUMB!

Honestly, whats wrong with it? Its not implying anything. Thats how i search for my chapstick whenever i lose it somewhere. seriously, people need to calm down and stop OVERTHINKING things. Not everything is sexual and exploiting women.

I think the problem is that they are clearly just showing a woman’s butt in order to sell their product. It wouldn’t really work with a guy. It’s not “implying” anything I don’t think, just that the tactic is skeezy.

Oh so here’s some more explanation. The thing is we use women’s bodies to sell stuff so often that a lot of people don’t even notice it. http://jezebel.com/5853134/chapstick-draws-fire-for-poor-handling-of-butt-ad

unless there is more here than a single print ad, I don’t see the fuss.
Is this implying that women with nice “assets” are to “ditsey” to keep track of their small belongings?
Is it implying that that her other “lips” are chapped?
is the sugestion here that she has oral activety that resulted in chapped lips because she looks good from that angle?
Help me out, what am I to infer? so I can be offended too.
