Jay-Z Talks Fatherhood & Putting A Child Seat In The Maybach To GQ Magazine

by admin on 11/14/2011 · 18 comments

As one of GQ’s Men Of The Year this year Jay-Z gets surprisingly candid with GQ magazine about his new baby girl. Check out some excerpts from the article after the jump.

NB

It [Watch The Throne's "New Day] was speculative when he wrote it, Jay says, but now he’s actually about to be somebody’s father. In an uncharacteristically public gesture for a couple who’ve never said much on the record about their relationship, they broke the news on this year’s Video Music Awards—Jay’s wife, Beyoncé Knowles, confirmed her pregnancy to photographers on the red carpet, then all but circled her baby bump with a Telestrator onstage. One of the gossip shows had the story, Jay says, claiming he doesn’t know which one, although he probably does. “It was actually Bey who wanted to [announce] it,” Jay says. “You want to be in control of your life.”

“Providing—that’s not love,” he says. “Being there—that’s more important. I mean, we see that. We see that with all these rich socialites. They’re crying out for attention; they’re hurting for love. I’m not being judgmental—I’m just making an observation. They’re crying out for the love that maybe they didn’t get at home, and they got everything. All the material things that they need and want. So we know that’s not the key.”

So will the God MC be changing diapers?

“Of course, of course. One hundred percent.”

And will we see you putting the car seat in the Maybach?

“Yeah,” Jay smiles. “Wouldn’t that be great? That would be a great picture.”

Classic stuff, read the whole article over at GQ.

@lolita… You shouldn’t pontificate on subjects you don’t know about. If your primary source is gossip and hearsay then you probably shouldn’t offer your opinion as fact.

Actually, Lolita is stating the fact here. the kid in question is his kid and he did take a test to prove it. He even talked about it on hot97 2 yrs ago.

the Living Legend of our time.

…when history reflects in the future on the past in the same light it does for Sir Paul McCartney now it will be JAY-Z who’s impact will reflect the brightest…the Living Legend of our era.

hahaha… this is laughable.

Jay-z and a lot of rappers got kids confused about what it means to be successful and how to go about getting their.

Our real heroes are alive but don’t get the love or shine that they deserve – good doctors, teachers, nurses, crossing guards, police officers, students, etc. Not these multi-millionaire entertainers.

you’re thinking small.

The Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn alone is the stuff of legend. Jay (and his partners) have a major sports team back in brooklyn for the first time since 1957.

the Nets are gonna play there – the Islanders (a hockey team) are gonna play there starting in 2015. there’s gonna be an arena football team there in 2013. they are gonna build a play area and open that up to community kids on the regular – and host local youth athletic and cultural events. it completely revamps the Atlantic Yards – which were an eyesore and a waste of prime real estate. It also means that this downtown Brooklyn area is now a bonified cultural hub. BAM, Barclays, The Atlantic Center = shopping, the arts, athletics+cultural events in a 6 square block radius?? Amazing.

Barclay’s alone is a GENERATION of jobs for THOUSANDS of PEOPLE.

And Barclay’s is just ONE bullet point on this dude’s resume.

your mistake is looking at him like a rapper when he doesn’t even look at himself as one.
