The story of a 42-year old named Jackie DeVita who died of cancer in 2008 is finally being heard. Jackie wanted her sister Colleen who was born the same year and looked almost like her to continue taking care of her 3 kids, marry her husband and move into her a 101-acre ranch and 19,114-square-foot house worth more than $13 million. Some excerpts from the Sarasota Herald piece on the unique family:
“From the time Jackie and Richard met, we were constantly together, the three of us,” Colleen said. “We hung out every week at the beach. I wasn’t dating or anything, so I was always the tag-along, but I loved it because I knew Richard and I loved Jackie.”
We often talk about that: ‘Why didn’t I ever get married? Why were we so close?’ Jackie would go to Montana with Richard for a week to 10 days, and leave the kids with me. We just did that.” Richard said it was in “God’s plan” that Colleen remained unmarried. “I wondered, too,” why she had never married.
Colleen did not like the idea of living in the DeVita house as a single woman, caring for her sister’s children with her grieving brother-in-law under the same roof.”There was no reason to wait,” she says. So for the second time in his life, Richard DeVita asked John Leary for his daughter’s hand in marriage.
“I am happy. I loved this man as a boss, a brother-in-law, and now as a husband,” Colleen DeVita says. “I always say to people, ‘Was I in love with him? No. Do I love him now? Yes.’ He’s a good man.
We’ve never heard a story quite like this……thoughts???

wtf!
come on america
Gotta respect that… Now a days you can’t trust anyone with your kids so best to get someone that will take care of family (that won’t break them up).
It takes a lot to give the person you love to someone else….
Lmao smashed both of em
white folk ..,.anyways my baby mothers has a sexy sister who I would bang in a second, but I wouldn’t marry her. Nope.
If you have ever known someone with children who was dying of cancer, then you would know that their greatest fear is what will happen to their spouse and children.
Normally the husband would re-marry, but the chance that the new wife would love the children AND the husband is unlikely.
Given how similar the two sisters are in personality, it is no surprise that the husband and kids would find her to be the best choice.
And that it is the sister’s wish is the icing on the cake.
It was mean’t to be!
And shame on the people who think this to be odd or unnatural!!
agreed.
