All jokes aside. This is sad. The police are engaging unarmed protestors, most of them kids, with full riot gear and automatic weapons. From the picture there is nothing, ‘nothing’, that seems to warrant that girl getting sprayed point blank in the face with pepper spay.
The police have a mandate, squash the protests. At one point they had to do so quietly but more and more these protestors are being assaulted and arrested without justification and many times without provocation.
As a country we need to address this seriously. This is not the land of the free!

the problem is that most people willingly trade “security” for freedom. i’ve been to city council meetings here in NY. you’re hard pressed to find anybody there who wants LESS police presence – they vote for more police – for more aggressive tactics – for increased police intervention over “quality of life” concerns – which is the catch all for police to be all in your shit about EVERYTHING.
None of this shit is secret – it’s happening broad day – people giving their freedom away.

I live in portland. I know for a fact, that the protesters gave the police no reason for this shit. NO REASON!

I know FOR A FACT that they are pushing the police to the edge on purpose. They want them to over react. The picture seen in NYC with the protester with the bloody head… just to find out who assaulted the police officer, resisted arrest and this was his 4th arrest.
I can’t help but to call you guys idiots for continuing to fall for this. The (the OWS and many of the groups backing it) wrote books and had seminars about what they want to do to you, not wall street.
But no worriesbecause according to them, you will find out next year what they are all about.

I don’t Identify with these OWS protest. I know i’m part of the 99%, according to the statistics, but i’m not feeling the movement. I grew up in Castle Hill Projects in the Bronx and i was pretty much poor up until i graduated from College (Shout out to CCNY) and than from Law School (Shout out to NYU LAW). Also, to my knowledge, i don’t see anybody from my old stomping grounds down there protesting because they know as well as i know that its going to change nothing. Personally, i feel like this movement is being to driven by middle class college kids who are wigging out because their parents cannot afford to send them to the school they want to or buy em a car or new ipad. In short. i think these kids aren’t used to being real poor (Food Stamp, Gov’t Chesse, Section 8, etc) and they need someone to blame, so they blame wall street because they getting Money and are always going to be backed by the Govt who cannot afford to let the financial system crumble.
