President Obama announced it and now the day is finally here, the U.S. celebrated their departure from Iraq with a flag lowering ceremony in Baghdad. This reporter says people in Baghdad are still dealing with the effects of the war with most families only getting power for 2 hours a day.

Obama makes good on Iraq promise…good stuff for the families that had sons, daughters, husbands and wives in harm’s way!
I interviewed several Iraq War veterans today and the majority is not happy the U.S. is withdrawing. They said it is too early and Obama was doing this strictly as a political move. After hearing their stories, I’d have to agree. I’m an Obama supporter, but I’ve got to take the side of the people who actually served in Iraq.
well i’m in the military and call bullshit to your fucking “interviews.”
the only reason there could be complaints from men on the ground is because there won’t be any more military pay for deployment. NO ONE wants to be over there. The risks to being in the military is not just from enemies. It’s from depleted radioactive shells and depleted radioactive armor plating for personnel vehicles. it’s from PTSD. It’s from IEDs. It’s from poisoning from food and contaminated equipment and ordnance. It’s from other things.
Obama isn’t doing this strictly as a political move. What the fuck else do you want us to do here? We can’t keep holding their hands; they need to build up their resources and the contractors are still here to help.
You wanna take the side of veterans – post your contacts and i’ll connect you with thousands of men like me who want to come home. Don’t just cherry pick so you can support some bullshit opinion. take a popular vote.
fucker.
Why would I lie about interviews? I’m a reporter, just stating what veterans told me. They are happy the troops get to come home, but think the U.S. will have to go back to Iraq because the Middle East is so unstable. There needs to be a U.S. presence or their democracy won’t succeed.
The men and women I spoke to were happy to help the Iraqis form their democracy and protect them from their enemies. They didn’t see it as just a job they were getting paid to do.
bullshit.
post your contacts – LIKE I SAID – and I’ll put you in touch with hundreds/thousands of servicemen who think different.
if you refuse, it’s because this angle is the one you want – rather than – you know – REALITY.
I’m a proud democrat and 100 percent against the war; however, after speaking to these veterans I think leaving now is a mistake. Is it really hard to believe that four people think we are leaving too early?
The veterans I spoke to who felt this way were majors, sergeants, and higher level military men and women.
The two I spoke with who were just happy the war was over were in their early 20s.
Hope this helps you understand where I’m coming from. My story is online. If you want to find it, use google and good luck.
I had no angle in mind and wrote the story based on my interviews. The local veterans affairs office put me in contact with the veterans I spoke to.
I’m done commenting on this. Have a good day.
I should add that it sounds like you’re pretty stuck on your beliefs and there is no convincing you that there are soldiers out there who don’t feel the same way you do. Well, sorry, there is.
Little, just because the war is “officially” over doesn’t mean all traces of an American presence will disappear. Troops/personnel will be stationed in American embassies and outposts. They still have Americans stationed all over the world after wars “offically” end. So those vets need not fear that no one will be there to control the locals. OAN: why would’nt troops be happy to get out of harm’s way??
Well it’s about time! Political move or not he did it and those men and women can go home alive!!!
U.S.A needs to GTFO from other countries come back home, focus on this country, get back up.
