Supporters Of Transgendered People Want An Apology From ABC

by admin on 12/16/2011 · 2 comments

An online petition has been started because of this ad which is said to make fun of transgendered people while promoting a new ABC show. From the petition:

ABC has announced that in January they will premiere a new comedy show “Work It,” featuring two men who dress as women to secure employment.

According to ABC, the show centers on two unemployed men who have “learned the hard way that the current recession is more of a ‘man-cession’ and their skills aren’t in high demand.” One finds out that a pharmaceuticals company is hiring sales reps, but only female sales reps. He goes to the interview dressed in heels, a skirt, and make-up and gets hired as a woman.

The premise of “Work It” reinforces false and damaging stereotypes about transgender people.  Send a message to ABC today. Let them know we can’t support programming that belittles and mocks those who do not adhere to society’s gender norms.

Is this politically correct?

havent seen the show, but just the idea doesnt sound wrong in any way. Live your mathaaf.. life and stop looking for issues everywhere, this is going a little too far. comedy shows have always been laughing off stereotypes, and we all just need to relax. Are they sueing Williams for Ms. Doubtfire too? c’mon

So it’s ok for Waynes Brothers & Martin Lawrence to dress up as women to solve police investigations in White Chicks & Big Mama’s House, but two dudes can’t dress up as chicks for a sales job. Or what about Juanna Man where he plays in the WNBA. Don’t get upset now when network tv is doing when you paid money in the theaters to get a laugh. Eat some popcorn and chuckle. Im done.
