just cause you are king don’t mean you got the slickest tongue. Nas still a better lyricist and the best in NY but Jay is King cause he is the MVP

Heavy lies the crown! Being the king of NY is not just based on lyrics. I love Nas and I do agree he is the best lyracist, but his mass appeal is just not there! To be the king you have to be bigger than a rapper and lyrics in my book!

zero2sixty 01/13/2012 at 10:16 AM: I’m not entirely convinced Nas is a better lyricist than Jigga. Nas seems to do the same style on 90% of his tracks. The concepts are sometimes new like ‘rewind’ and ‘my rhymebook’ but the style is the same. J has switched up his styles and rode rythms and beats overall ‘much’ better than Nas.

I think it’s no coincidence J is where he is and Nas is where he is. Overall J puts together better tracks and more consistently. That said, Ether was better than Takeover. But overall, Jay Z is the king. Nas is like a Duke or an Earl.
