Eddie Murphy’s New Film ‘A Thousand Words’ Bombs At The Box-Office

by admin on 03/13/2012 · 15 comments

With a $40 Million dollar production budget, were sure that Paramount/Dreamworks pictures are not happy with the $6.2 Million Eddie Murphy’s A Thousand Words pulled in opening weekend with critics calling the film a disaster.  The plot seemed kind of interesting, but obviously the public didn’t think so.

Did any LIFERS see the movie?

I am so sorry to hear that. I can’t attend the cinema so I am waiting for the Blu-ray. I’m so glad to see Murphy back with his usual films. I find it hard to believe that this one bombed. I still want to see it. I love Eddie Murphy’s films and he has never recieved the acclaim he should have. He is genius in his work.

I always thought Eddie Murphy was far above and beyond these type of bullshit movies.

i actually agree. they are trying to put his career on hold for whatever reason.

and he’s obviously fucked up. considering the amount of money he’s made and as long as he’s been making it – how is it that he’s still only a performer and not producing/directing?

james brown? he has the equity to make that movie himself if it’s a passion project. he doesn’t need a studio; unless he’s strapped for cash and is pimping himself out for dough.

there area lot of things that aren’t quite right with what’s going on with him. he’s bombed a good number of movies in a row but keeps getting greenlit – and then he’s not getting any marketing at all. it doesn’t add up.

nawwww, no conspiracy here. This movie looked terrible. Personally I’m surprised it pulled in $6 mil.

Ah maaan, I’ll have to catch it on dvd. That movie was written years ago, but remained on ice until now. Maybe he’s just trying to expedite a commitment to an old contract by dropping wack films. I’m thinking the Oscar Mafia are none-too- happy with his recent withdrawal, though…

i’m not surprised from the plot to his co-star; it all seemed forced. He should have fought more for the James Brown story… I’d also wish Brett Ratner stayed on 4 the Oscars and Eddie could have hosted. this movie just seemed wack. SMH! Bombed only due to story plot/line…

I didn’t understand the plot of this shit. Not even worth a download homey needs to make that Beverly Hills cop 4.

He’s really fallen off. Hard to believe this is the same genius from Harlem Nights and Made in America.
