As one of the brand’s new spokespersons because he “represents power” Jay-Z makes an appearance in this new ad which uses “Run This Town” and was actually shot at his 40/40 club. This guy is really selling battery power now…….mo’ money!

Is this selling out?
cause it seems like selling out.
but its for the culture…
I understand why you would feel that way, but what is he really selling out? J has always been a business man first and an musician second. If that’s the case then every commercial rapper is selling out….think about it.
fine.
The definition of ‘selling out’ is exploiting your own values for money. This, is a commercial, using his own music, with a rather clever concept, that sells batteries while widening his own exposure. well done.
for ‘selling out’- see Mary J. BK commercial
This.
What is your definition of “selling out” and why does it seem like selling out?
Whatever anybody wants to call it at the end of the day you gotta have more than one hustle!
he’s doing what he’s got to do to bring checks in, can you imagine competing with Beyonce as far as the income that comes into the home. Now everyone can say he’s doing this because he “wants to” or all the companies “are seeking him out” but that’s just not the case.
After Forbes released the highest paid athletes, I have to admit I gained a new found respect for Floyd Mayweather. He made 80 Mill with absolutely no endorsement money, he didn’t advertise/endorse one product last year.
Point is, people have to do what they have to do to keep up appearances and Jay-Z’s whole persona (like a lot of others) is based on appearance.
you found newfound respect for Floyd because he has zero diversification in his earnings portfolio as a prison-bound 35 year old boxer with no job security on the verge of his greatest fight as a pro?
really, though?
Yet you would trade your life for Floyds in a NY second… even in his current predicament.
I actually wouldn’t at all. Almost all boxers are parkinson’s cases, him being no exception. Health is the greatest wealth.
you’re projecting though. Be careful with that; projecting fucks with your money and it fucks with your hoes. Niggas see right through you.
Predictable response. I call you out on something, you claim the opposite. Scared of Parkinson’s while typing out your response on a device that could potentially give you cancer. Don’t respond.
In this economy you call it” selling out,” I call it surviving!
word. being that all my fav rappers have sold out I guess i need yall to smack me in the head with reality. thanks!

I hate u lol!
It is so funny to me when we I hear people use the term sell out. Because they can never define what that is. So Jay is selling out because a company approached him and paid him money to use himself and one of his establishments in a commerical, and the product is BATTERIES…..don’t we all use them?
That selling out defined
U basically sell yourself (take money) from the same establishment thats tryna to keep u down. not the case here….but.
Who said that’s not the case here??? Oh, just because an establishment approached Jay about doing a commercial and they use one of his hottest song in the ad, that constitutes them not being an establishment that’s trying to take him down. Oh, ok! Sweetie, snake ppl LOVE black ppl (or any ppl for that matter) that they can make money off of. They’re very well aware of his influence. The minute these hip hoppers declare Jay Z to no longer be hot or relevant, guess what???? Those companies are ON TO THE NEXT ONE!
However, I dont think he’s selling out. I actually commend Jay on using their ass just as much as they think they’re using him. Jay is pretty heavy in the head.
“When you first come in the game they try to play you, then you drop a couple of hits look how they wave to you” -Jay Z [Encore]
see my post below.
Exactly, my point proven. Dude is heavy in the head. However, him being a partner doesnt say anything positive about the company, it says that Jay knows how to handle his business. A company can be a snake but not be stupid. They know with Jay, they’ll have to give up a whole lot of something to get him to endorse their product.
Great research though!
Sounds like a job! 9-5 we all sell ourselves look at how many hours you give for a lousy check a year
WELL SAID!!!
Just found out he also is a partner within the company sooo….WIN!
