Newly Discovered Document Says Jesus Was Married?

by admin on 09/19/2012 · 14 comments

Harvard professor Karen L. King is at the center of a religious firestorm after she says she discovered a piece of papyrus that suggests Jesus Christ may have been married.  According to Karen:

“The most exciting line in the whole fragment…is the sentence ‘Jesus said to them [his disciples], my wife…” The next line of text reads, “She will be able to be my disciple.”

If this discovery is true it could lead to major changes in the Christian faith, Jesus being single is one of the reasons Catholic Church priests don’t get married and are celibate.

Where do you go to find ancient papyrus?

There are actually a whole bunch of ancient scrolls that weren’t added into the Bible. But the Europeans who put the Bible together then translated it didnt think those scrolls fit the image of Christianity that they wanted, so they were omitted. I bet most Christians didn’t no this easily confirm able fact. Then think about what kind of Europeans choose which books to include in the Bible and then translated it.. were they slave owners? Involved in incest? Maybe homosexuals? But then you Christians devote your life to the Bible, but know nothing of it :( Ever wonder why the American slave owners let you read only one book during slavery? Maybe the slave owners really cared about your souls? I used to be the biggest Christian, until I did my own research. FYI

It’s a system of control, a political tool, and a revenue generator.

LOL trying to make it about race and slave owners and shit. You’re silly and trying to be radical. Christianity as a religion, and the Bible as a whole, existed way before that nonsense occured. Also, slaveowners wouldn’t let slaves read entire passages of the Bible, only portions that promoted obedience. There are portions of the Bible that speak against slavery and they didn’t want the slaves reading that.

Don’t believe all propaganda, even if it is Pro Black.

He makes a good point. As a woman, I make the same argument as it pertains to how the Bible and how the good book has passages stating a woman must marry their rapist and things like that. The minority of the time (whether they be Moors, female, slaves (Hebrew), indentured servants, etc.) had no control over how any version of the Bible was written. I don’t know why you believe the Bible was written before slavery, incest, homosexuality, etc. occurred but there has always been a population under “control” and it didn’t start with America.

I used to be the biggest Christian?!?. I understand your frustration. Smh at the end of the day you can only know the relevance of the bible by understanding for yourself. Not to add who ever translated wrote co written edited the bible, you can only pray and believe what was written and composed from a higher being or GOD and that you are living or trying to live the life it states you shall live and believe even in sin. If its incorrect I’m sure god is not gonna penalize me or you for not knowing the 100% facts an information of religion ,Christian life or what have you. I believe praying gets me thru my storms whether or not I’m in a church or by myself in my room.

Am I the only one who thinks this is bullshit? How the hell do people know if this was written by Jesus Christ himself??

It could have been that Jesus was speaking in the pre tense. Such as an eight year old might say “My wife will have the best car”

Even if it is truly from the 4th century that’s still 300 years after Christ died. I don’t see any relevance to this.

knowing the relevance of the bible starts with understanding it. the bible speaks of truths that came to happen after the bible was written.
