Here Is The Story Behind The Most Tweeted And Liked Photo Ever

by admin on 11/09/2012 · 13 comments

Take that Justin Bieber! Photographer Scout Tufankjian tells the story of this photo he captured which broke Bieber’s record for the most retweets (over 800,000) and also most Facebook likes on a photo. This was the first message the Obama campaign sent out after it was revealed he would remain president. From Scout who had no idea the photo would be used and has been shooting the President since 2006:

This picture was taken in Dubuque, IA on August 15th. Iowa is always a pretty special place for the Obamas, since Iowans were really the first people outside of Chicago to embrace the Obama candidacy, and we had been on a bus tour for three days. This was the first event the First Lady had been at and they hadn’t seen each other for a few days. Because I’m a total sap and am also relatively recently married, I find their relationship to be totally inspirational in terms of the respect they have for each other, so I always try to focus on them as a couple, rather than as public figures.

it’s a great picture celebrating a historical victory.

but on another note, it’s amazing how young/youngish Michelle looks. From the back – looking at the quality of the skin on her arms and her muscle tone, I actually at first thought this was a picture of him with another woman or his daughter or something.

great couple. great role models as a family. great role models as professionals. I’m proud.

man why people always got to throw race into the shit. its OBVIOUS Michelle is black. who fucking cares. shes extremely intelligent and well spoken. so f the fact he has a ‘strong black women by side’ (horrible grammar btw) – he has a STRONG WOMAN holding him down. now that’s hard to come about in any damn race. pfft!

I reason l mentioned she was black is because D.L. Hughley said that all black women were angry all the time. I used it as an example to show that not all people are the same. Not all black women are rude, angry, ghetto like D.L. Hughley stated.
