At a fundraiser event thrown by Leonardo DiCaprio for Hurricane Sandy victims this past weekend in NYC, actor Robert DeNiro and Jay-Z were the talk of the event since DeNiro confronted Jay-Z about not returning his calls according to reports.
A spy said, “Bob was sitting at a table, and when Jay-Z went over to say hello, De Niro told Jay that he never called him back…Bob wasn’t in any mood to make polite conversation…He told Jay that if somebody calls you six times, you call them back. It doesn’t matter who you are, that is just rude.”
The source said Jay tried in vain to “joke his way out,” and that his better half, Beyonce, even tried to smooth things over, “but that didn’t calm Bob down.”
The spy called the exchange “the talk of the party,” saying, “Everyone was saying there’s only one star in New York bigger and badder than Jay-Z, and that’s Robert De Niro. He can be quite scary when he’s angry.”

jay-z runs like a dozen businesses. it’s not clear if deniro called personally or through his own staff and it’s not clear to what number he’s calling (i.e. hov’s phone or his assistant’s phone or his office phone, etc.).
we don’t know the time span: 6 calls in one day? nigga, i’m busy… hold up.
we also don’t know what he’s calling in regards to. it’s common in the “business” when you call asking for something – that when you don’t get a call back… the answer’s “no.” That’s actually common business etiquette, you read it all the time in news reports, “calls put into _________ for comment were not returned.”
no one gets upset over that – that’s the game. DeNiro is waaaay too old to not know the game.

Your points are debateable, as “common” business etiquette is subjective in this regards. I neither agree, nor disagree to that extend. However, the “news reports” are for news stories not business, necessarily.
Deniro calling Jay is not for business either and is probably charity donations or appearances.
