Wait… The 5-Hour Energy Drink Is Killing People?!

by admin on 11/15/2012 · 9 comments

Don’t be sorry guys, be careful!  These energy drinks including the 5-Hour product above has been cited in at least 30 deaths since 2009 the New York Times reports.

Since 2009, 5-Hour Energy has been mentioned in some 90 filings with the F.D.A., including more than 30 that involved serious or life-threatening injuries like heart attacks, convulsions and, in one case, a spontaneous abortion, a summary of F.D.A. records reviewed by The New York Times showed.

The filing of an incident report with the F.D.A. does not mean that a product was responsible for a death or an injury or contributed in any way to it. Such reports can be fragmentary in nature and difficult to investigate.

The distributor of 5-Hour Energy, Living Essentials of Farmington Hills, Mich., did not respond to written questions about the filings, and its top executive declined to be interviewed. Living Essentials is a unit of the product’s producer, Innovation Ventures.

Do you LIFERS drink this stuff?

People drink coffee all the time. Two to 3 cups at a time. More caffeine than what is included in the 5 hour energy. Unfortunately people are also dumb because they will go beyond the recommendations on the bottle. Nore more than 2 in a 24 hour period. I watched people dor 4 or 5 of them in a day. And if it was really killing people and the FDA found evidence of it they would take it off shelves. Every company has to report supposed findings to the FDA if a customer accuses the company of causing any harm. They can go for any FDA approve thing. People need to stop procrastinating. Finish there work when they have time available and not at the last minute. They also need to start going to bed at night. They probably wouldn’t need this stuff.

you are an idiot. do not discuss science.

caffeine from coffee includes substances that moderate the absorption into your system and moderates its effects.

so caffeine in coffee is not the same as caffeine in energy drinks and drugs.

and even with coffee, there have been reports of heart attacks from people who are susceptible.

caffeine is a drug.

“you are an idiot. do not discuss science”

I am afraid you are the idiot sir. From your statement I am to assume that you called him an idiot for talking about science. Unless you’re a bigger idiot and the two pitiful sentences above are in fact not related.

If the former is the true case, then, I am afraid your comments contain nothing valuable to contrast with bwinston06. He actually makes a good point. We could all do without the artificial energy, and instead procrastinate less and sleep more.

Where have you summoned the arrogance to assume that your knowledge regarding any subject is higher than his? The veil of technological secrecy from which you hide has gone to your head. Or perhaps you are hyped up on energy drinks.

@ Corey…
DId you really just call someone else out for being arrogant and accuse them of hiding behind technology to appear like they’re much more than they really are?… All I can say is… Pot meet Kettle! LOL

A couple of years ago, I drank one 5-hour Energy Extra each day before work for a week straight. By the end of the week, I experienced severe migraines that lasted a full week, the following week. I seriously thought that I was gonna die… the pain was that unbearable. Fortunately, I survived & I haven’t touched that stuff since.
