While on an unrelated assignment photographer R. Umar Abbasi snapped this photo of a 58-year old Queens man who had been pushed off a train platform and was moments away from being hit. Many on the iternet have questioned why Abbasi who says he was using his camera’s flash to alert the conductor didn’t try to pull him up, though the Post says he wasn’t strong enough to lift the man.
Who’s to blame here – the photographer, the Post or us for keeping the conversation going?

I’m almost SURE that the man who took the picture was stronger than the 58 year old man who was struggling to pull himself up. If you had enough time to pull out your phone and find the camera app on it, position it to take a pic, then you had time to at least attempt to save the man!
Who does the Post think we are to believe that “he wasn’t strong enough”. No. That’s them trying to save face because they wanted to validate this insensitive picture. America has literally gone to sh*t if we are allowed to see and produce images like this on a somewhat, respected periodical. It’s a SHAME.
I’m telling you……we better stop being at each others throats and try to see people as human beings again, because I strongly believe that we are gonna need each other more and more in the coming years. You may not think so….but watch.
Those that sat back and watched this as just as guilty in my opinion. Everyone stood by and watched, yet, these same people probably worship worthless music artists; placing them on pedestals and such.
Backwards a** world…..

Wallahi this makes me want to cry
No wonder New York gets hit with terrorist attacks and storms. That city had a ton of bad karma. This story is just proof. Post puts picture on front page and nobody tries to help this man. New York City is a joke and the world knows it good luck in the future fuckers.

you’re too judgmental.
everybody is fucking james bond on a blog but you niggas given the choice between a flight of stairs and an escalator take the escalator. fat fucks. you niggas ain’t doing shit.
all this dude had to do is TURN AROUND. Cross the third rail and stand in the space between the two tracks. It’s right there right behind him. growing up in the hood we ALL know that. Or if the train has a storm drain in the center of the track – you LAY DOWN flat in the storm drain until the train passes overhead. graffiti niggas know this too.
Unless you’re ridiculously strong you don’t pull this dude up in time – and in his panic he pulls you down with him. people look at a picture and see a still train. In reality, from that shot you have like 1 maybe 2 SECONDS of time. NOT ENOUGH.
the real moral of the story is watch who you let stand behind you on the subway.
it’s ironic that you’d post such hateful shit and then talk about karma, James. with that kind of attitude i bet your life and your shithole of a community sucks.

Could he have done either of those options in the “1 maybe 2 SECONDS of time?” Probably not.
no idiot.
1 or 2 seconds based on that picture.
according to the police report he was on the track for a minute to 90 seconds. he had tons of time to save himself.
James, what city do you live in? For you to say that is just ridiculous. I hope you get your “karma”. smh.
Guess what NY Hater most of the people that were there were not from New York. As a matter of fact it was in the largest tourist district and people from New York are known for jumping on the track to shielding people as the train rolls over them, so do not speak on things you do not know.
