One of the most important men in boxing Top Rank CEO Bob Arum says he thinks working with 50 Cent is a good thing for boxers in this clip. In a separate interview with ESPN this week Arum also claims Floyd Mayweather turned down major money to fight Manny Pacquiao:
“We had an offer, a legitimate offer on the table for 180 million dollars and people due to fight and had a big upside of 180 for the two fight camps. That’s when he said 55-45 which would’ve given Mayweather 100 million. (Pacquiao) would’ve ended up with 80 million and that’s still a lot of money right? But Mayweather will not fight him.”

How really know what’s going on with this fight. Both camps seem to be lying to avoid the fight.
mayweather obviously has more to lose in losing a pacquiao fight.
i think there are problems with both sides. the way pacquiao originally responded to the steroid accusations (afraid of blood – or superstitious against drawing blood) had me feeling that there was some truth to the accusations.
on mayweather’s side, i think he’s nervous about fighting dude because of the two styles. mayweather is a defensive boxer – an aging defensive boxer who relies on speed and counterpunching. he doesn’t have great knockout power.
manny is a volume puncher who throws multi-punch combos really deep into fights and has shown has has more stamina and cardio than most fighters he fights.
on paper – that’s a recipe for chin music to mayweather late in a fight. manny can be knocked down but money may is not really that dude.
so i think both sides are gonna drag this out for another couple of years – logically they want to put as many fights ahead of the mayweather/pacquiao fight as possible – because the interest in that fight is the peak of their careers (in terms of popularity). earn-up now – push the fight back further and further. So likely, both niggas will be over the hill by the time they fight, but niggas will still queue up PPV numbers to see it.
