Just one week after the tragic shooting in Newton, Connecticut which left 26 dead National Rifle Association vice president Wayne LaPierre is saying there should be an armed police officer in every American school. The organization plans to launch a “National School Shield” program which with the help of Congress would allow them to train security personnel and develop security plans for free. According to LaPierre, “the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.”

We might need guns in schools for now but in the long run will it really help? What we really need is to stop blaming things such as video games and lies about what is really happening in society in this United States of America. Poor conditions and lack of education to teach even the simpleton such as the kid who took out his angry or rage on the school. What really were his thoughts and what did take him there? I think that maybe the principle over stepped his place in the employment of his teacher and tried to maybe help her son. Besides all that we should not blame games and such and realize that education is at fault. Not in one school in this country teaches about life or living in the grade school curriculum and need to be taken seriously looked at. I fully support the proposal to have armed officers in all schools but I’m afraid it will contribute to the atmosphere of fear. Maybe some trained volunteers would be a much better choice. On the other hand, I also realize that the culture of violence in the country is also part of the problem. We are living in a society where murder,rape and numerous degenerate activities are presented as entertainment 365 days a week, along with video games that extoll mass murder so this is just the natural culmination of it. A few days ago I read an article on my native Vancouver which is often presented as one of the most liveable cities with the safest neighborhoods in the world but only now I realize that you are no longer truly protected anywhere especially when children are exposed to this kind of evil from their early childhood.
Some immediate changes need to be implemented in this particular area. Teachers and other staff members can’t be left unarmed if something like this happens.
