It means absolutely nothing. Almost like the dollar itself.
For some reason he doesn’t want his actual signature on the money.
When a movie director, or producer or such, decides they don’t want anyone to know they are associated with a particular movie, they can have their name in the credits replaced with the false name of ‘Alan Smithee’.
There is no Alan Smithee(or other spelling) but the name is registered and anyone can use it instead of putting “anonymous” in a movies credit list.
