Good luck Obama. The people are going to fight for their right to keep their guns. Obama is supposed to go through congress first and get approval from them. He has chosen not to do that. With that being said, it is very possible he might be impeached if he doesn’t get the approval from congress. I smell a civil war coming soon…

Universal Background Checks at all costs is great, the rest of this is fluff and not much will change… so after hearing this I’m glad to hear much won’t be changing b/c as he said at the end, he is putting this in the American peoples’ hands and things aren’t going to change much and the things that do change, will be overturned soon or have loop holes.

Your making it sound like nothing in America has ever been over turned. Women’s rights, Gay marriage, Slavery. All these very huge and profound things in America were all once illegal or atleast frowned upon. Times have change and so do people, it’s very likely then gun control in America will too.
you sound pretty emotional, all the dude said was “not much will change” and I’m inclined to agree because while a place like new york may institute more laws to ban guns, guess what; there were already tough laws there while his state (VA) and i know my state (FL), there won’t be much change based on what obama just said.
what you don’t understand is that people are taking this as more of an attack on culture, both southern blacks and whites which is a lot different from an ethnic group or constituency like gays. that is where the difference lies, plus people in northern states like their gun too, the difference is the rich people are allowed/granted to have them in the north, the common majority are not.
Most conseal and carry are people who are rich in NYC. The funny thing about NYC is that there are probably plenty of conseal and carry gun owners… Just not legally.
So no these laws are only for those who follow the law. Period.

what needs to change are not more laws that project consumer-side, but laws that project corporation-side.
this is me just spitballing, but imagine a $10 million dollar fine for a company every time an unlicensed gun your company manufactured is used in a shooting or crime.
Gun companies would tighten that shit up quick. you gotta sell a lotta guns and ammunition for $10 million.
this kind of gun control doesn’t work becase it doesn’t deal with both sides and it doesn’t go far enough.
but te truth be told the people are the problem. looking to Obama to do it is wrong. he can only go so far because he’s the president of the US – not the president of the niggas who don’t want guns.
so we need to take matters into our own hands. start a national gun buyback registry online. everybody who is anti-gun – donate to it. I guarantee you with that kind of money you can both lobby politicians and also actually buy back guns on the state and local level.
it’s bottom up that is gonna change this – not top down – but then Obama told us this in 2008.
