Lupe Fiasco who’s known for being very vocal about his world views was escorted off stage while performing in Washington D.C. at an inauguration party after he took advantage of the opportunity to spit a rap which included anti-Obama lyrics.

So what he disrespected the president. At one point we’ve all said something disprespectful about any U.S. president. The event was stupid to book Lupe because that song is not new, and it’s well known he does not support Obama. So I guess the only idiot left is the Obama commity that paid a guy (who clearly is not a fan of the current president in his lyrics) to come play at his after party, and give him the opportunity to trash Obama all at onc . I’d say Lupe Fiasco – Genius.
This is why Lupe was an idiot. and why you are an idiot too. dissent is basically complaining. it’s a useless activity. I don’t remember anyone accomplishing anything by complaining. but it’s your right to do so and that’s a protected right.
the president’s committee is right for booking dissent artists because it shows that they are not opposed to differing opinions.
if you notice, lupe wasn’t kicked off stage for critiquing the president. he was kicked off stage after he was hired to do a set and then proceeded to do the same song over and over for 40 minutes. ANY ARTIST would have been escorted off a stage for exactly the same thing – regardless of the content.
what does that mean? that this was a stunt by lupe – designed to get him kicked off a stage while doing this song (the only song he did) so that he could turn around and claim something political.
but here’s lupe’s miscalculation: as a 4th tier artist, his stunt won’t even make a major news cycle. plus they gave him 40 minutes to get his act right; that’s clearly not because of dissent. so he gets much less press from it than expected. so now he’s embarrassed the guys who booked him so they’ll never book him again or will severely limit when and how they do so. so he cut off his nose to spite his face – will get booked less – and accomplished nothing but to get rap music blogs to talk about him – and those niggas talk about him anyway.
this from lupe, the dude who worked as a witness for the prosecution against his own manager – the guy who basically put him in the game – a guy who is now doing like 60 years in prison.
