According to Billboard:
A Marine Band spokesperson explained to CNN and Washingtonian.com on Tuesday that all music for inaugural ceremonies is recorded as a precaution. “That’s something we’ve done for years and years. The Marine Band did perform live throughout the ceremony but we received last-minute word that Beyoncé wanted to use the recording.”
Band director Colonel Michael J. Colburn told BuzzFeed Shift that Beyoncé didn’t rehearse with the United States Marine Band till the night before the inauguration. “We had Kelly [Clarkson] in over the weekend to rehearse and record. Beyonce, she’s getting ready for the Super Bowl, so we didn’t have a chance to do anything with her until last night so it’s a very, very tight window of opportunity,” he said.
Don’t big celebrities do this all the time? Also when she took out her ear piece during the performance… what was that about? Anyhoot Beyonce looked and sounded great!
UPDATE: On Tuesday, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Marine Band told news outlets that Beyonce had lip synced at President Barack Obama’s inauguration. Master Sgt. Kristin duBois said the band was notified at the last minute that Beyonce would use a pre-recorded voice track.
But by late afternoon, the Marine Corps backed off that statement.
Marine Corps spokesman Capt. Gregory Wolf said that because there was no opportunity for Beyonce to rehearse with the Marine Band, it was determined that a live performance by the band was ill advised. Instead they used a pre-recorded track for the band’s portion of the song.
“Regarding Ms. Knowles-Carter’s vocal performance,” Wolf’s statement continued, “no one in the Marine Band is in a position to assess whether it was live or pre-recorded.”
A representative for Beyonce did not respond to requests for comment.

Obviously the girl can sing who gives a fuck it wasn’t the beyonce show it was the Obama show let’s focus on that.

I dont think she lip-synced. The fact that she took out her ear piece actually makes me thing she wasnt lip-syncing, cuz after she took it out she did a really weird run to hide the fact she couldnt hit the right note… because she couldnt hear herself as well as she did with the ear piece. If she was lip-syncing I dont see why she would have recorded that part cuz it wasnt as perfect as the rest of the performance.

not a big deal, those Whitney Houston National Anthem days are long gone, I’m sure these singers want to sing live, but a lot of these events aren’t having, just be happy you were invited to record your voice and be at the event lol

The Wall Street Journal released a video prior to the lip-syncing allegations that prove she in fact sung live. As you may or may not know news outlets get their audio recordings directly from the microphones and they have her voice including the feedback the mic started to have that prompted Bey to remove her in-ear monitors. So stop with the shenanigans.
She sang live, and if she hadn’t who the hell cares, she has a great voice. She’s proven that many times. Also Whitney lip synced her rendition back in 1991 so does that mean she’s less of a great singer/performer as well?
