Why does a waiter get 18%? Simple. Because God doesn’t spit in your food for tipping poorly! Also, bringing 20+ people in means 20 opinions about service and a big bill and sometimes little room for a gratuity. If you don’t want to tip….come in by yourself. And when the server can’t get to you quickly because they are covering a 20 top you will not feel bad about tipping nothing because the other table is tipping 30-50 dollars or more!

I hate mandatory tips tho. Don’t tell me how much to give you, especially when shitty service is so prevalent.
When gratuity is added, it is a suggestion. Your signature is a legally binding contract to pay the total. You may always scratch it out and leave what you feel, but to give a $0 tip is ridiculous.
What kind of pastor only gives 10% to God, why not more! Poor excuse if you ask me!

The pastor was part of a group of 20. Restaurant policy (almost every restaurant has a similar policy for large groups) is party of 8 or more is automatic gratuity of 18%.
People need to keep in mind servers make $2.13/hr. Unless they have given poor service, tip them. If you don’t want to tip at a restaurant, then get your food to-go.

Why are you blaming the customers for tipping or not tipping? The question is why are these businesses paying their employees $2.13/hr? The customer is doing the restaurant’s job, which is paying the employee. Customers and employees of the service industry need to wise up and require more money per hour for waiters… a living wage at least! You are getting played by the restaurant industry…tipping is so ridiculous in this country and around the world.
Are you ready for the price of your food to go up so employees of the service industry to get paid better wages? Either way you’re going to pay. Don’t want to tip? stay your ass at home.

In Europe, waiters are paid a salary. The price to eat at a restaurant is dramatically higher as a result.

$6.29 to people who work hard and come Sunday, give their own % to make sure you are fed and housed(we all know its not going to God but to the congregation)? Come on now!

What a piece of shit!
1) All servers are forced by their boss to pay about 5% of every customers bill, and it’s labeled ‘Tip-out’ so the owers can have their servers pay for a portion of their back of the house staff’s wages, so the owners don’t have to give them a bigger rate of pay/hr. IF the server doesn’t get tipped, the server is FORCED to pay the 5% of the customer’s bill out of their own pocket.
2) Some restaurants are forcing a mandatory tip because there are so many trash people out there that skip out on the tip, so the bad apples have ruined it for the rest of us. This is a bad policy because the customer can be taxed more than they should for their meal (18% is too much and 10-15% is standard) AND a tip is a GRATUITY – meaning that it’s a special thank you to the serviceman for their great service not another MANDITORY tax which is just another way to milk a customer for more money for nothing! It actually should be illegal to enforce a gratuity tax. So the customer shouldn’t have to tip anything if they don’t want to, AND the company should NOT be allowed to FORCE serving staff to pay a tip-out AND it should be illegal to force customers to pay gratuity.
Tips are a PRIVILEGE, not a right!
It’s one bad policy following another.
