Jamie Foxx was emotional as he picked up his statue for the NAACP Awards’ Entertainer Of Year thanking Sidney Poitier and Harry Belafonte before discussing working on Django Unchained. Check out the speech from Harry Belafonte that moved Jamie after the jump.

Jamie’s speech was dope.

It made me watch Belafonte and I was moved to tears. He was right, and eloquent and poignant and encouraging and optimistic. He was EVERYTHING.

Then Wyclef came out and I was like O_o.

I love Harry and respect is due to him…but when has it been somebody else’s responsibility to clean our own house. I grew up in East Saint Louis and I wonder every day, is there any parenting in our black communities. Black people have more today than we ever had in the past but yet the further we have gotten away from the importance of a village. Do we need to go back under oppression in order to rediscover our moral compass? As we have attained so much more than our grandparents and great grandparents who went thru the struggle…the farther we have gotten away for respecting each other and our communities. Why does someone else have to bail us out?
