The judge seems as immature as her but he is in a position of great power and should have ahown restraint instead of bickering with an 18 year old.

I’m interested to know the out one of this hearing because this girls legal counsel will obviously claim the judge was biaest. Especially when he increased the fine and prison term off only her demeaner and a swear word. Her lawyer will claim he’s not a impartial judge and will request another hearing (I assume). But either way it was a pointless move my the judge and actually makes me sick to see judges hand out extra fines and prison terms based upon their own preferences. She was wrong to act in that disrespectful manner. But the judge was even more wrong to play into her game, and risk his credibility as an impartial judge.
It’s called contempt of court. Look it up.
contempt of court is a discretionary charge. look it up.

or how about this….
“(the power to punish for contempt is discretionary, but should be exercised sparingly and only when necessary to prevent actual, direct obstruction of justice).”

LOL, You just cited an opinion from a case where a man was given 20 years for contempt of court! This girl got 30 days, which is totally reasonable. Way to fuck up your argument with a radical example.
what part of what you said changes the fact that contempt is a discretionary charge?
